Hmm... I don't know if this helps, but:
So I have a betta. For awhile before I used the water conditioner, I'd boil water and let it cool in a baking pan for about 30 minutes (or so). I know that something about boiling water gets some of the not-fish-friendly stuff out of it. I know that...
Sounds like that isn't the problem then. It's good that she is pooping and at least eating a little bit. :)
Yeah, softness is good. If there's hardness in that area it either means there's material that hasn't digested (which could lead to impaction) or eggs.
Hope the vet can shed some...
Could she be impacted, maybe? You could try gently squeezing her lower regions to see if there's anything firm in there. (when I took my veiled to the vet she checked for impaction that way) When was the last time she pooped? If it's been awhile maybe you could try letting her lower...
You could just buy a small cage and set it inside of that enclosure until he gets big enough to move to the bigger one. Seems like a waste to disassemble such a lovely enclosure. :)
My 4 month old recently had an episode where he stopped eating and sat at the bottom of the cage, entirely black w/ eyes open. It actually passed -- he started eating again the day I took him to the vet. I'm not sure if your girl is doing the same thing, but maybe she just has an...
Mine always has a little bit of shed in the same place. :p I always think it looks like a "hat".
I think every chameleon grows at different rates, from what I've heard. Mine is the same age and he's probably shed 5 or 6 times, but I've had him for about 4 months; so I think your girl shedding...
I think as long as you have general heating in your house you should be fine, especially at night. I live in Redmond and it drops to about 60 degrees at night. He's been fine. :)
I came home from class once and found that my beardie was GONE. I was so worried, but we found him in the blankets by our couch. lol Somehow he'd managed to climb/jump out the top of the tank and fall 1.5 feet to the carpet. D: I remember the way he looked at me when I found him, lol.
Not a...
Whoa, really? That's where I'm from! Small world. ;)
I'm in Redmond (next to Seattle) though, going to college, so I don't live there anymore.
Good luck with the vet trip!
Damp? Why damp? Dry would be warmer and better.
Since they're small animals, they don't breathe as much air as we do. Just make sure the holes aren't so big they can crawl through. Maybe like 3-6?
I've driven with a reptile so many times; it's pretty easy. When I would take my beardie to the vet I would put a heat pad wrapped in a towel in a box (either cardboard or an unused cricket holder) and set the beardie on that. Whenever I was on long drives he'd just go to sleep if it was dark...
Yeah, I don't think the repair men ever actually know what you have on your lease, so even if you had an unpaid for animal (which we've done) they wouldn't know any better. And in some apartment complexes they REALLY don't care about caged animals. My friend is keeping a rabbit, which is...
I know. That's what I'm afraid of! :P
I don't MIND a female, but I don't want to deal with the extra care of preventing egg-binding and stuff... not right now. ;)
I can understand not wanting to spend money... but if that's something that could potentially be fatal for him, you should at least CALL the vet.
I don't know if it's helpful to tell this story, but when I was young my mom amputated our gerbil's tail (for a similar reason, I think) and the...
Yeah, he does but the vet I went to thought I might have a female. So I was confused. I'm pretty sure she was wrong, though.
I'm so happy, though, because I just noticed today that Ridley is starting to develop some yellow bars on his sides. :D So pretty!
