Casque won't finish shedding

My male veiled finished shedding about 4 days ago. Parts of his casque still have shed on them, sort of around the edges. He is a gentle sort who will bite anything near him. I am not sure if I should just keep spraying him or if I should help the process. Ideas???

Spraying may help. It helps push the skin off. Just watch him, make sure it doesn't effect him, maybe it'll come off soon.

Mine has the same problem. Some chams have different areas that are hard for them to shed, mine being its casque. Try spraying with warm water (not into the eyes, that always angers mine) or if you can, try getting a wash cloth with warm water on it and gently rubbing the casque, try this once a day for about a minute or two, or if she doesn't like that, best chance is spraying.

Thanks, I am going to try the warm washcloth. I will let you know how it goes and if I have to type my next post with fewer fingers.

Try not to stress her out! Pictures would be nice to see how much shed is left and if it's really shed and not a burn.

Laurie, just leave it alone and make sure you are misting good. My veileds always shed in sections and it seems like my male is shedding somewhere just about all the time. Jann

jannb what I said was suggested by a vet to my cham when I got him checked and he wasn't shedding well.

But I agree sometimes leaving it alone is the best idea for the more aggressive chams.

My chameleon still has a lil piece on her 'Forehead' Right on the front, lower part of her casque, It doesnt bother her, so i left it.. :p I dont think i should take it off.. could rip her skin maybe? not sure Though :p

I like your idea about the warm clothe, but mine doesnt bother her, and it looks cute :p Its just a lil patch, so i figure itll come off with spraying her... Very good idea though.

By the way..

Does anyone know how many times my chameleon should have shedded in 5 months (Her age) she is around 4.5 months to 5 months, and since ive owned her (3 months of age) shes shedded twice...

How many times do you figure they should have shed?

Thanks Jann, I will just let him be. He reinventer the work aggresive so he is much better left alone.:)

My male veiled has trouble shedding the front part of his casque. I do have to say he just completed his first all over body shed this last week. He still has a whitish spot on his front, but finally he got the rest off. Until the weather turned windy and cold here in Florida I was trying to put him out every day or two. Nothing like sunshine!

I could put my guy out in the sunshine but at 30 degrees I know it wouldn't make him happy! Montana does offer nice weather almost 2 months a year and not all at once.:)

Mine always has a little bit of shed in the same place. :p I always think it looks like a "hat".

I think every chameleon grows at different rates, from what I've heard. Mine is the same age and he's probably shed 5 or 6 times, but I've had him for about 4 months; so I think your girl shedding twice in 1.5 months isn't bad. :) As long as she eats, poops, and acts normally!
