Heat Source

Question for everyone who has Brev's, or has raised them in the past.
I live in the Seattle area, so it can get quite chilly in the winter. My Vivarium will be set up in my living room. In winter we keep the room temp at 68 at night. I'm sure it falls below that, but that's where we have it set. My question is: What external (or internal) heat source have you used, if you live in a cold climate? I was thinking of a heat cable that I could burry under 2" to 3" of substrate, and/or a ceramic heat lamp up top. There are also the flat pads you can mount under the tank, or on an outside wall. I don't want to over heat, but also don't want the little guys to become chamsicles! Thanks for your input. Tim

I think as long as you have general heating in your house you should be fine, especially at night. I live in Redmond and it drops to about 60 degrees at night. He's been fine. :)

Hey woodinville!

My name is Bothell ;)

I likely live less then 10 minutes from you. If you ever want to come check out my setup you're welcome. I keep my cham in the computer room so it's already slightly warm, but I also use a heat bulb (basking bulb) and a ceramix heater and my temps are good. Do you have a veiled or panther?

whoops just re-read that this is for brevs. sorry

Gets pretty cool here in the Great White North, and the pygs don't mind at all!
Other than an old repti glo 5 and low-wattage "basking" bulb for a good gradient of temps in the daytime, nothing more is needed. Anything above 60 is great. They like/need cool temps at night (and not too warm in the daytime)
Listen ... you can hear them snore!

Nope, that was Hobey the Pug.:D
