Maybe I'll try dusting them very lightly, then. I think if they take well to dusting, they may be a viable staple. I think I might have to order one of the big tubs online for him now. :)
It gets some water from the misting system but I also spray a little water through the rocks from my pump sprayer every couple days. The rocks and screen do not impede water getting into the soil though. Here are some examples of my method.
As for bamboo, I believe most types are...
First I repotted them in organic potting soil with a layer of organic topsoil. Tip: cut out a piece of aluminum screen to fit in the bottom of the pot before putting in soil, this keeps any soil from falling out of the drainage holes. Then once repotted, I cut out a piece of fiberglass screen to...
So I swung by the local Petco and petsmart, in the petco, I noticed some "Calci-Worms" so I looked in side and there was about 10 BSF's crawling out at me. So I got excited and bought a tub, brought it home, popped it in the fridge for two minutes to calm the flies. Threw 4 in the bottom of the...
LIVE PLANTS!!! Throw a nice tall ficus in there to fill the space. Also, is that a 2x2x4 like we talked about? I just picked up this nice ficus, that is the PERFECT height to go in my 2x2x4, and it was 50% off! It came out to $4.44 at walmart. But, the black plastic pots I like were out of...
My baby nosy be is terrified of me too, it's completely normal. You might enjoy observing his normal behavior from afar with a pair of binoculars. And if you have a scared cham do not handle them at all unless you are moving him to clean his cage, etc., forcing handling with a scared Cham will...
I had a similar experience, I told Briana that shipping would be a go for monday and she told me to expect the shipping email from her mom, but the shipping days are hectic for them and they didn't get around to emailing me until the next day, but he did end up shipping out on monday.
I had my little guy out of his cage because I was cleaning it out, and I figured that while I had him out, I'd snap a quick pic of him to ask the breeder a question about the development of his coloration. When I put my iPhone up to him to take a pic, he puffed up, gaped, and his colors got...
You're welcome and as I said, the only secret to keeping babies in big cages is just to put a little extra time into monitoring and caring for him. And if you can, i'd recommend you stay home and closely monitor him for the first two or 3 days, just to be safe.
Oh, and if you want to see a...
I really would not do the aquarium. If you have a big cage, start him in that. If you have the time to make sure he is eating, then there's no reason not to get the big cage. If you do not want to go straight into the big cage, then maybe a small, cheap Reptarium would be a good baby cage...
I went with a 2x2x4. I've always been one to live by the "go big or go home rule" and went all out when putting together his setup. I have a T5HO UV fixture and a regular 75w bulb in my dome. Of course, I had to pick up an AquaZamp as well. For decor, I have a ficus as the main plant, and...
Double check this, but I think frilled lizards are pretty easy to care for, but im not sure. If so, they definitely have the 'unique-factor' going for them. I don't think they have a good temperment for handling though and i think they can be a bit pricey.
