Reptile Suggestions

My friend doesn't know what reptile he wants to get. He has specifics in mind as far as husbandry goes. I want some input from you guys. He has a 20 gallon tank, wants something that can be handled relatively often, is on the easy end to care for, and doesn't require humidity regulation. Any suggestions?

I'm assuming hes a novice herp keeper. IMO, 2 female leopard geckos would be a great candidate for him. If you could give us an idea of the types of reptiles he really likes, realistic for him to get or not, it would really help us move forward with the perfect pet for him.

Bearded Dragons are also wonderful critters, but he will need a larger enclosure. If he's a snake fan, check out corn snakes and ball pythons. Also will need a larger enclosure.

How about a crestie. The setup can look a lot cooler, they are very easy, and have one I the biggest tolerances to handling. Plus they are so cute.

Thanks for the suggestions. He doesn't like leopards 'cuz of their fat tails. He's not willing to purchase a larger tank for beardie, and cresties, if my research is correct, require around 50% humidity with spikes in the 80% range. He does like beardies, skinks, geckos, pretty much all lizards. No anoles though because those are kinda lame and too popular. And he is a novice keeper.

The OP said his friend did not want to worry at all about humidity regulation, otherwise, a good choice.

Also, his mom doesn't want a snake. He's reconsidering leopards, are their any like sub-species maybe with less fat tails?

In my experience, the males tend to be more slender and lean than the females. I think you wont find a more suitable pet than a Leo though.

K, I think that might end up being the winner, still open to suggestions though. Maybe something a little more unique but still easy to care for and handle.

Double check this, but I think frilled lizards are pretty easy to care for, but im not sure. If so, they definitely have the 'unique-factor' going for them. I don't think they have a good temperment for handling though and i think they can be a bit pricey.

That's annoying. Those frilled fellas are arboreal and require taller rather than wide enclosures. Guess those are no longer an option. :(

I haven't researched them I've only seen them and day geckos are very pretty. Try gargoyle geckos although they might also need some humidity, I'm not sure

they still require humidity regulation as well and are arboreal.
