This is exactly what they said that it would cause problems with cartilage. I know that they did dilute it and had to go over it a few times to make sure it was right. I used Google as well I just couldn't find anyone using it for chameleons so I figured this was the place to ask!
This is how I felt but they said they didn't want to use baytril yet because it is a strong antibiotic. They looked at him say the bubbles near the mouth and some crust near his eye and thats why they said the smz tmp. They said if it progresses any further that we would go to baytril
So I went to the vet yesterday and they gave me antibiotics for a RI. It wasn't baytril and asked why they said it can be very rough for a younger chameleon (6 months) and gave me smz tmp. I just want to know if anyone has ever used this and if its okay?
alright I just got back from the vet and they gave me an antibiotic because I was able to show them he had an infection. But they didn't give me baytril they said that was a rougher medication and we will go there if we need to but gave me an antibiotic called smz tmp. Does anyone have...

First off I was wondering if anyone has ever had a chameleon who is perfectly fine, until you decide to go look at them and watch them for a while and then he decides to scare the life out of you by making popping noises from the throat. Now I was thinking it was a RI so I took him to the vet...
So I found out my little gut has giardia so just to be safe i took his cage out and cleaned it real well. Then i added some new gauges to help with the humidity and everything. While I am doing this my chameleon is in a tree soaking up some rays and he seemed pretty happy. After everything was...
very good to know thank you! After finding out about it i have no idea ho he got it, at all. So just for peace of mind I will clean his cage very good to help get rid of anything and I clean up his poop every time I see it.
Thank you i am hoping so as well. I did raise his basking area a bit and the ambient temps and the popping is almost gone. Thank you for the thread I will go look it up now :)
So as stated before I took my chameleon in because he was making some popping noises and I thought to myself URI so took him in. (he didn't have excess saliva or bubbles just the popping) Before going in I call the vet and ask if I should take a fecal just in case, they say sure. Vet says he...
See it's true you learn something new everyday. I don't know if he knew that or not but he is better than the last vet I took my little guy to who diagnosed him wrong. I might take him back later when I have more money. He said though that when they do have a LRI that their stomach droops and...
So I took my little guy in to the vet to get checked for a URI. Well after talking to the vet he had previous chameleon experience and knew quite a bit about them. So I trusted him and let him check everything out. He said this was the best looking and most active chameleon he has seen here. No...
