I was right better safe than sorry

So as stated before I took my chameleon in because he was making some popping noises and I thought to myself URI so took him in. (he didn't have excess saliva or bubbles just the popping) Before going in I call the vet and ask if I should take a fecal just in case, they say sure. Vet says he doesn't have a respiratory infection so I am happy (don't know what the popping noises where/are) he says lets do a fecal just to be safe. I get a call today hoping to here i had nothing to worry about but he has giardia. i have no idea how but I plan on taking his stuff out tomorrow or Saturday and cleaning everything down. His branches have all been baked but I have some vines that need to be taken care of any ideas, the cage as well?

Thank you i am hoping so as well. I did raise his basking area a bit and the ambient temps and the popping is almost gone. Thank you for the thread I will go look it up now

Yeah it had me quite scared but there was no saliva or bubbles and that's why he went to the vet and he said he looked perfectly fine

ah my kitten had that for the first few months we owned him. He was given antibiotics & oral solution to harden his poo, which cleared it very quickly. but obviously, a cat is not the same as a chameleon. Gairdia is a type of parasite, but not a bacteria so antibiotics are not effective against it- however, antibiotics often help by treating secondary infections that occur along side it, thus strengthening the animals defenses. I'm not a vet though, & certainly not a reptile expert. Just sharing my experience of that particular infection- it was a bit messy with my cat & persistant.
With cleaning the cage, I believe a lot of people use a diluted bleach solution- so I maybe someone can help you out with the ratio?

very good to know thank you! After finding out about it i have no idea ho he got it, at all. So just for peace of mind I will clean his cage very good to help get rid of anything and I clean up his poop every time I see it.

I have read that too, but since I didn't know the specifics I kept my trap shut
