Hey! I'm fairly new myself so not going to pretend to have the answers, but if you fill out the form below people who do know what they're talking about will be able to help you a lot better. Vet Appointment- Reschedule ?

Hey all! I have a female veiled, I got her from a pretty bad situation so I was going to see a reptile vet this afternoon to get her checked up and to see if she was gravid, or just very overweight. The only thing is yesterday she went down to check out her lay bin, and this morning she’s been...

    New to chameleons advice welcome

I'm new as well, but I believe maxing out at 114 is far too hot if I'm understanding what you mean correctly. See https://www.chameleonforums.com/threads/veiled-cham-basking-temp-question.14357/

Empty Enclosure - What Herp Would Thrive?

Those little guys look awesome! Not too crazy of care requirements, and apparently the adults are pretty relaxed. Thanks!

Empty Enclosure - What Herp Would Thrive?

Hey all, I recently fell into possession of a chameleon from a friend who couldn't keep her anymore, unfortunately he wasn't taking great care of her. She came in a pretty small glass wall/screen topped enclosure, which I've since moved her out of (into a 2'x2'x4' one). But I still have her...

Looking for Canadian who want to try silkworm shipment!

I'm in Edmonton AB and always looking for snacks for my little lady, let me know if you want to try shipping to here. Been pretty moderate, and supposed to stay pretty warm (-10C is the lowest I see for the next week).

New Owner, Next Steps to Improving Enclosure?

Hey all, I've recently come to have a female veiled chameleon, a friend had to travel for work and asked if I would take her. She wasn't being cared for very well at all, besides the addition of a laybin which I put in immediately with a live plant, you can see in the photo how she was living...

    Basking lamp help!!

Depending on the specific shape of the bulb, the higher wattage can result in a higher temperature over a larger area, as opposed to just being hotter in a straight line below it. As RLc1994 said as well, a temperature gun pointed at the branch might not always be completely indicative of the...

    Deep sleepers?

This might be a good place to ask, is it bad to wake your chameleon up in the morning before they wake up on their own? Normally when I start getting ready for work (5:30am) she's snoozing away, but when I flip on her UVB/basking light she wakes up and gives me the stink eye. Should I be waiting...

    New Owner, Upgraded Enclosure Questions

Okay that makes a lot of sense! I've never seen that you shouldn't have their heat lamp on at the same time as misting, but I definitely will put that into practice now. Thanks again!

    New Owner, Upgraded Enclosure Questions

Okay I will give that a go for getting more perches in her enclosure, thank you! Good to know about the mister at night! So essentially I should run the mister for a minute or two a couple times during the day, then have the fogger going overnight? She just started her shed this morning so I...

    New Owner, Upgraded Enclosure Questions

Thank you so much! Really appreciate it. I definitely will get her some live plants after work today. How would you recommend attaching the branches to her mesh? I saw one comment that said just sticking thumbtacks on either end, but wasn't sure if that would be secure enough. I also have...

    New Owner, Upgraded Enclosure Questions

Hey all! I recently came into possession of a female veiled who was not being taken care of very well. She was in a small glass enclosure with no lay bin, just a coiled UVB bulb, and grossly overfed without the proper calcium/d3/multivitamin routine. I've got her a lay bin (soil+sand with a...

New Chameleon Owner - Gravid, Eggbound, or Neither

Actually just ran out on my lunch break to grab her a new Reptisun 5 UVB light! Got the 12", so Ill put that over the areas shes in most often, then keep the current UVB bulb on top of her cage as well to get hopefully close to 100% coverage. That scar makes sense though, I actually have just...

New Chameleon Owner - Gravid, Eggbound, or Neither

New or not any advice is appreciated! Yeah she definitely looks very lumpy, not sure if those are eggs/ribs or if she does have a broken bone. I know the previous owner at least was good at giving her calcium, but with the little coiled UVB bulb she probably wasn't getting enough.

New Chameleon Owner - Gravid, Eggbound, or Neither

She hasn’t been digging at all, she’s checked out her laying bin (walked around the rim) and that was it. Ill definitely take the substrate out. I’ve seen a ton of conflicting info about it, previous owner used the coconut husk substrate so figured I would keep doing the same, but I’ll remove...

New Chameleon Owner - Gravid, Eggbound, or Neither

Her lay bin is in the left side of the picture of her enclosure. And I’ll get the soil in it sorted ASAP and cover her with a bedsheet. Thanks for the advice, really appreciate it.

New Chameleon Owner - Gravid, Eggbound, or Neither

Hey all, brand new chameleon owner here. Her previous owner had to move to the states for work, so she asked if I would be willing to take her. I’ve only had her for a few days, but I’m concerned she might be eggbound. When I went to pick her up there was no laying bin in her enclosure, which...
