K, thanks everybody. I wish the man who sold him to me would have told me this or sold me the bigger one. He knew we were beginners and he chose the cage for us - he never said anything about upgrading later on.
Calvin forever wants to come out of his enclosure and I wonder if it is because he is bored of his surroundings and he needs somewhere bigger. I let him roam around the living room but it is hard because he always risks being trodden on by other family members and the dog. His enclosure is 18 by...
Along with Calvin I also have a dalmatian and 10 guinea pigs. They have all been introduced to each other and all get on fine. Well, they pretty much ignore any other species to them. My dog has grown up (she was born in this house) around a cat, a hedgehog, guinea pigs and rats so I knew it...
Is it ok to have the basking light at the side of the cage? That's how mine is.. I know most people put it on the top of the enclosure. He is used to it being like that so I don't know how he'd react if I changed it. It doesn't fit on the top. Is it alright to have the basking lamp on the side?
You mean a water bottle? My guinea pigs drink out of those so I have some spares... maybe I should try! I'm getting worried that he's getting dehydrated. Like you, I still go to school so when I am not there I am worried if the dripper runs out and I'm not their to spray.
I went away for the weekend and left my dad in charge of Calvin.... when I came back I found crickets jumping around everywhere - he hadn't put the lid of the cricket tub on properly!
Was horrible at the time but it's funny now.:p
Can't the crickets jump out of the feeder cup?
I am going away for one weekend and need to find a solution for feeding my chameleon. I'll be able to feed him on Saturday morning but won't be back till Sunday evening and I've been told to remove the crickets before I go to bed? I won't be able...
Calvin is 3 months old. For the past three weeks I've had him I have been worrying because he'd only eat up to 4 crickets a day. But on Friday he began shedding (the first time he's shed with me) and he hate 11 crickets!
Do Chameleons have a bigger appetite when they're shedding? Or is it...
I don't offer him 4... I offer much more, but that's the amount he eats.
I will definitely stop handling for a while then. He is 3 months old.
Yes I posted a thread with pictures of him in. :)
My panther was bought 8 days ago. He has eaten 4 crickets a day until yesterday. Yesterday I introduced waxworms to him (which he really enjoyed) and then I put a locust in. His reaction was really weird - he was showing aggression to it I think.. I left it in there with him thinking that...
That's cool!:p
He is just over 2 months old.:) He was the third biggest (there were about 40 chams to choose from..they were all sooo tiny).
I got him from a place called Millenium Reptiles... I was cautious about buying from a reptile shop but I found that he breeds them himself so it is...
After months and months of persuading my parents they finally let me have one.
I have no pics yet! He is still exhausted from moving in so is sound asleep. I will get some today. He is a Sambava Panther.
:)
