Today is a dredful day, my female Ambilobe Panther developed prolapse and fell to the floor, she broke her hip. I immediately brought her to the vet and the doctor suggest to put her down because she was bloated and broken her hip bones...She won't survive a surgery!!! Argh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now waiting for necropsy results.

I am so sorry to hear this Poh! I am assuming she is the one who has laid some chlutches for you? Hopefully the little ones will resemble her...maybe a little girl will turn out exactly like dear old MOM.

Sorry for your lost poh. Its always hard to lose something important. Lets us know what they found out.

Sorry to hear that Poh...I dred the day that i'll lose my first chameleon. Let's us know about the necropsy.

Poh,

Such losses are always a bad day. With first a prolapse, and then a fall resulting in a broken hip, it sounds as if she died twice, as both would be considered to have fatal conclusions. Its your money, but at this point, what do you expect to determine from a necropsy ? Reason I mention it is that cloacal prolapse seems to be both random and fatal in all my experiences, and broken bones from falls are no mystery. I just don't know what a necropsy would tell you substantive beyond that. Good luck with all though, as your posts here have shown that you are passionate and good at what you do, and the loss a discouraging blow.

After the necropsy, the Vet said she is ovulating...in fact too many and it stays in the body and caused compaction. She found eggs the size of a grape in the body and also small ones. The eggs started to rot in the body, infection takes in and causes her to prolapse. Her liver was serverely infected and her GI tract was black in color. She actually took some picture of the necropsy and will send to me soon. So, I will post it once i get those picture. TODAY IS A HORRIBLE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry you have had such a bad day. Its not an easy thing to deal with. I think its good that you got the necropsy done though, tough as it is on you to hear about it, because you know now that there was a reason why she prolapsed.
