***The Official Enclosure Picture Thread***

I am a member of another forum that focuses around paintball, and they have a thread dedicated to only pictures of paintball guns to browse through/show off the user's equipment and thought the same concept would work well here, but with our enclosure setups. There's only one rule: each post must contain a picture with part of a chameleon setup in it. Cham pics are okay to add to show who may be living in the setup, and we all love to show off out little guys, but please include pictures of your setup. Repeats are okay, but preferably new if you can. It is nice to be able to scroll through a thread with all pics to get inspiration from other people, but also have commentary in addition to the pictures. And a lot of people make threads on their setup additions, and this puts all of that in one place. Let me know what you guys think...

I guess I'll start...

Nice Setup! Here are a couple pics of a project that I have been working on, I plan on it housing a communal type chameleon maybe a 2.4 or 2.5 ratio, It will be filled with Ficus, pothos, lots of bromeliads, Spanish moss as well as the ground covered in live moss. Now the lighting will be an experimental thing, as I will have this fulltime in a basement and want the most natural light available to them so I will be using 2 x 250 watt Metal Halide lights at 10000k as it is the most natural spectrum, so they will be a basking source as well as a uv source. It will also be setup with a 6 nozzle MistKing Pump. So anyways here are the pics of the finished cage without the fixings.

Here's my enclosure for Leo, my sambava panther. I first put this together back in June, so I'll show the progression from then until now.
Here it is getting set up:

and mostly done, but still looking a little bare at the top:

then I added an hibiscus (and some more branches and the Mistking):

The hibiscus had a little problem getting acclimated at first, but now it's doing great. I do use a 3' 6500K fluorescent for lighting, plus a Reptisun 10.0 for uvb. Here's the latest pic:

Puts my little guys pad to shame :(

But I'm gathering bits together for his new place, and hopefully by new year he'll have it all sorted!!

Wow, we really need to revamp our chameleon enclosures to even post them on here. Ours look really sad compared to yours! We tried hibiscus and NEVER got them to work!! Maybe that can be their Christmas gifts, revamped enclosures haha. We have schefflera in all 4 of our cages and they just look so sad (

Well now that my girl is acclimated to her habitat, Here it is after its cleaning and everything is in. Its about time too to put an egg laying area. Think i might actually do that today....

the yellow bowl I put some apples and other vegies in their for her to eat and munch on through the day. She goes for em. Ill through some worms in their to to add to it. The white chord is my thermometer probe. Still trying to find a better way to hide that thing =,=

Do you leave the plants in the containers they came in?

Yeah. I take the plants out, wash them and the pots down and then repot them with new soil. I did use plain top soil a while back but now for my schefflera I use a mix of 1/3 topsoil and 2/3 sand with some chunks of styro foam in the middle and bottom for better drainage. I found just topsoil alone does not have enough drainage for scheffleras with the amount of water that is put through the enclosures.

Here's some pics of Triton's Free range :)

So living in Maine free ranging a Jackson's...isn't it hard to keep it at the right humidity constantly? I really want to get a Jackson's myself as it was what first got me interested in these awesome reptiles but I think I would have trouble keeping the humidity correct. What is your secret? I only ask because I live in WI and we both have similar climates.

Hi, I think I've been really lucky with my male. I've been free ranging him for almost 2 years now. I think my secret is that he drinks directly out of the spray bottle daily and he drinks a lot at one sitting so he is very hydrated. His poops are perfect. Also, he likes to sit in his pothos plants which I mist regularly and keep well watered. Right now because it's cold and the heat is on constantly The humidity in the room is only 36%. I'm sure that will raise some eyebrows  But, he's adapted really well. But, it was over a period of time. I just didn't throw him into a free range one day he addapted slowly from a high humidity cage where he could go in and out at will and climb up to his free range until it got to the the point where he wanted to stay out all the time so I let him. . I was very worried last winter as it was the first winter that he free ranged and I knew the humidity would get very low. But also knew that he would go crazy if I stuck him in a cage all of a sudden but he did well because he was already drinking heavily out of the water bottle. He will not drink out of a dripper so he no longer has one. I think all chams are different and this works very well for us.

These are the cages I will be making soon, love them. Cheap, easier to make than any other cages, and work well.
