Okiiieeeeee...

So I'll try and make this as short as possible. Zuri (who was supposed to be male when purchased) was suspected to be pregnant a few weeks ago. She ended up getting extremely fat, but over the course of the last 3 weeks or so, she seemed to thin out a bit so we all figured maybe she was obese.

I WAS VERY WRONG.

Having Asha (my other female) give birth only a month ago to the day, yesterday, I thought I knew what to expect in regards to signs and symptoms before giving birth. Zuri showed no signs of labor in the days leading up to this morning.

Everything went according to plan this morning. Got up, fed the dog, fed the cat, fed the fish. Went into the spare room, turned on the baby lights, watered the babies, fed the babies. Went into the kitchen, turned on the adults light, gave Zuri her Baytril (she has a respiratory infection), watered the girls. Got ready to head out the door. My parents were down for mothers day and we all had our coffee out on the back deck, and as I was getting ready to walk out the door, I remembered I had to feed the adults. I looked in the cage and I'm not kidding, this was my response..."WTH? How did one of the babies get in there??...Wait, is that a yolk sack?...SH*T!!" LOLOLOL!! (The things that come out of our mouth when we're stunned...I swear!)

Anyway, we were lucky enough to witness the live birth of 6 out of 8 baby Sternfeldi. Everyone got involved, and Zuri was polite enough to let us catch her babies as she dropped them! My husband, who is "afraid" of lizards, caught a baby, and watched it wriggle out of its yolk sack right in the palm of his hand!

Truly, it was such an amazing experience watching a life start literally in the palm of your hand. I caught one too, and I can't believe how much it warms your heart to see something like that. We were so lucky. Zuri had 8 babies in total, one died about 20 minutes after being dropped, never making it out of the sack. All the other 7 are alive, gigantic (compared to Ashas babies a month ago) and believe it or not, drinking and ate their first few fruit flies this afternoon! So in total, I have 11 baby sternfeldis that will be for sale to approved homes in a few months! :)

Sorry this is so long, but I'm so excited and couldn't wait to gush to all of you! Only you guys know the obsession that is Chameleons! :p
