I have noticed that my chameleon has been getting lazy when it comes to eating. He seems to only try to stick something with his tongue if it is less then 2 inches from his face. He has been like that for a little while. This last weekish I have noticed that he is now missing his food the...
I use paper towel in my tank. Being as this is the Chameleon forum I was trying to relate the question to people that have chameleons but use the tips for other reptile tanks. I know most people just use towels but there are people that do use substrate in their tank. I don't know why really...
If you are gonna feed roaches to your chameleon but it doesn't like eating out of a cup, what do you do to stop the roaches from just getting to the bottom of the tank and burrowing into the substrate?
Also anyone know of lizards that eat bugs but live in a dry environment? That aren't types...
I read the males have wings and female just have the stubs. How long does it take them to develop before you know which sex it is gonna lean to.
Also if you need to grow a starter colony should you keep it in a smaller container and get a bigger one as it establishes or can you just start it...
Do you keep a thermostat or something on the UTH to regulate the heat at all? Some sites said it wasn't neccisary to control it like you would with a reptile.
I have been reading through a few care sheets on keeping Dubai roach feeder colonies. They all generally state the same info. I was wondering if anyone knows a link to a reliable care sheet or any tips on keeping good care of them.
I used to go with tubes but where I live doesn't sell them much anymore so I switched more to coil bulbs. For the 10.0 I thought having too much UVB could be bad for them? I could be remembering it wrong and it might be one of y other reptiles.
Chameleons need the proper ventilation which is why screen cages are used. To keep up the humidity for them just mist more often then you would other tanks\reptiles.
I added some more branches and leaves to the tank yesterday.
I also switched out the infrared bulb for a sun glow. When I did that he basically stopped eatting. I was told changing something in the tank they might stop eatting for 5-10 days but it's been almost 2 weeks and all he has had...
So it's basically bad practice to always feed everyday? Just leads to over eatting I assume?
I would have thought this would have been one of those topics that lots believe they should be fed everyday and lots believe they shouldn't. When I looked at care sheets I saw ones in favour of both...
Are chameleons not able to sense heat like other reptiles do? I have lizards (geckos and skinks) that use heat mats which gives off no light let alone not act like sunlight. They are still able to bask over that heat. I have other lizards(uromastyx) also a tortoise that even bask under infrared...
I am sorry if what I typed seemed as trying to argue that was not my intentions I am trying to clarify/discuss what is said. Nothing I wrote was meant as an argument. One person said don't use then, anther its ok and then another gave a reason that didn't make sense to me so I am trying to...
