Sigh think end might be near?

So I buried my little buddy under a tree this weekend. I found him a little wooden box at a craft store and I lined the inside with cotton and laid him top of a piece of ficus and laid his head on a Hibiscus leaf from his plant. I even made sure the sun shines on him everyday too. I think he'll...

    Dehydrated help?

Go to the vet an get him feed some electrolytes. My panther was similar and went down hill quickly and passed away today.:( Might also try getting some hornworms as they're big water balloons.

    Panther Cham has bloody nose

I wouldn't have advised holding in the vets office. That's a pose of self defense. I just learned mine died today at the vet and he said Panther chameleons are not truly suited for New England due to lack of humidity during the winter. This maybe why they're illegal in MA.

Sigh think end might be near?

R.I.P. little buddy. I'm sorry you didn't make it but least the vet made you comfortable. :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:( The vet also told me chameleons really shouldn't be in New England to begin with because of our drastic change to the climate of Madagascar where these reptiles were built...

Sigh think end might be near?

Today the vet called said he was force feed and given electrolytes and went to the bathroom. Maybe little stronger but not worse. The plan as it stands is to keep him there until Thursday and which point the vet will show me how to force feed him.

Sigh think end might be near?

He got force feed this morning and is about the same as last night they said. It hasn't been 24hrs though yet.

Sigh think end might be near?

1st thing I learn was the Panther chameleon is probably thee hardest reptile to keep in captivity according to the vet. 2nd thing was he's dehydrated and is gonna stay in an incubator for 2-3 days , get some liquids and get some carnivore substitute. He still had grip and was sorta looking...

Sigh think end might be near?

He's going today. I'm not stupid Carol just unknowledgable. I called the vet a week ago and they said to try over offering him water and I've had him a year and changed his bulb twice. I seem to get a lot of misinformation such as being told to use an IR light for warmth by the breeder and then...

    New chameleon

Don't let misinformation start you off as a bad back keeper. NO CHAM should be in a glass aquarium, even in the wild they have open air flow, and he doesn't want any water features. Hopefully you have some suitable plants in there too like a ficus or hibiscus.

Sigh think end might be near?

He was up more on his dowel perches more during the week. However I haven't heard the chunk sounds in some time as in a month and thought maybe he just didn't like me in the room when he was catching them?

Sigh think end might be near?

He's beginning to looking boney especially in his tail. He seems to be on the bottom more perhaps due to a lose of strength. Being as I'm unsure if he's eating or drinking anymore I'm not sure the vet could do anything for him at this stage? However when I help him back up to the top he opens...

    Horrible accident

I found him walking on the bottom this evening and i hope he didn't fall down there either :( I helped him back to the top with a dowel and gave him a good drink and he's now nestled in his foliage. I hardly see him eat (19mths) so I wonder how he's alive actually. I don't think I've heard the...

    Horrible accident

Little did I realize the cage is expose above the porch rail anyways. I was simply trying to get the whole thing exposed. NEXT TIME I'm just gonna wedge it between the railing and a table. While resetting up the cage I also tried to replaced my bulb which had been giving me a horrible time...

    Horrible accident

30 mins later he's got his usual iron grip on the cage and he appears to be soaking up the sunshine. He's a bright yellow and any more yellow I think he's gonna start emitting back sunshine.

    Horrible accident

I had put his cage outside to enjoy the hot spring day today. The cage was weighed down with a watered hibiscus with rocks in it to keep him from eating any dirt. Had to be at least 20-30lbs. The wind gust was apparently just a little stronger and knocked the whole 4' cage off the table with...
