Colored lights aren't good for their eyes. Did you buy a T5ho light? They're the long skinny ones. Are you using this light for UVB or just extra lighting for the plants?
I was also concerned about the windows, especially because they're single pane. This room of the house isn't heated- it was an add on the previous owners built. I asked my dad about it and we got a heater that keeps the room low 60s at night to fix that. There isn't any wind blowing around, but...
Will do! I've been doing turns just in case until I get an answer on it. As for the bulb I plan to add another to help the plants out, so I'll keep an eye on my guys. Thank you!
Thanks guys! Another question for the reptisun 5.0 I have a small tube light for it, but people have told me it's trash. Is it just the shape of the bulb that's bad? Also should I go 10.0 so I don't have to bring down the light fixture?
Very weird for sure. My guy tried to eat shiny things...quarters, metal pencil tips, etc. I eventually realized it meant he wanted water. So whatever it is your guy is trying to tell you, just make sure it's healthy for him
I feed my silkworms as much as they want. You can sort of control their growth with how much they eat. I like huge silkies because I have adult chameleons, but if you have a juvi Cham just feed them to size :)
You can feed the hornworms carrots to gutload them. It doesn't do much for the worms, but the main idea is to gutload them before you give them as a feeder. Assuming you only have a 12 cup of worms just throw in some carrots and they'll munch it. If you have a lot, don't feed them all carrots...
Yep I had a scare like this too. That's why I hold them by the head so his tongue grabs that part. Chameleons naturally close their eyes when flinging their tongue, your guy should be just fine. Just watch out for it :)
Hello everyone. It's been awhile since I posted. I've been working on making an inside free range enclosure. Currently I have two questions. 1. Is T5 56 watt too intense for a chameleons eyes? (I'll include picture of how far away it is. It's only one bulb) 2. Any suggestions? Also, since it's...
With all this Oregon smoke going around, I'm wondering if I should bring my chams inside the insulated part of my house. Even though I close the windows and turn on the air filture 24/7 for them, I'm worried the smoke might affect their lungs. Usually I wouldn't worry because it's a good air...
