Unless you get the plant from a store that specifically does not use chemicals you should always wash and replant. and even then, still good idea to wash and repot them. Can't be to careful.
If you do a bioactive terrarium then you shouldn't need to clean up nearly as often because the isopods and springtails will clean up droppings and what not, you just mainly need to brush off poop from the leaves
Agreed. You could also use organic soil and sand mixture too. Just make sure you actually plant and set up everything a month or 2 before you get a chameleon and have it run the daily cycle you are going to use with chameleon. This gives your plants and isopod and springtails time to populate...

This item has been on the fourms more than once asking the same question. From what i've read though, Majority of chameleons will drink from it, just not all do right away, some you have to give a few weeks to adjust to it. I don't own one, but for your question, i'm going to guess that the...
It's really personal choice. If you want more customized look or want specific dimensions or just like building things by hand, build it, but if you want something that you know will work right off the bat and don't wnat to spend the time to build it, go prebuilt.
It looks like the led's are more for the humans than the reptiles. It has like 3 different color leds, so it's for humans to have multiple colors to look at their reptiles with. And Led's in a strip themselves won't offer any heat source at all.
If you are talking about putting it on top of a shelf that's mounted that high, As long as you can reach all of it to clean it and do maintenance, and as long as the unit it's on can hold the weight and is secure, i don't see there being a problem really. You just need to make sure you can have...
I'd think that as long as the cups of the plant don't get to big (i know some species can get big enough to digest small mammals up to giant ones that can digest monkeys), and you keep an eye on chameleon, it shouldn't be a huge issue.
I wonder if it would be possible to modify it to use external reservoir to make filling it easier? I don't have one but thinking of getting one at end of year when my cage is built
I'm going to guess that one of the issues with it would be sterilization. If you kept it clean and kept water fresh every day or so, i'd think it wouldn't be that big of an issue to use it. but i could be totally wrong too
My design is mostly based off another cage on this forum. I'll have to find it later, but it's a foot and a half base where dirt goes in, and 4 feet tall enclosure, where the back will be solid and each side will be 2 feet long, and 1 foot on each side will be screened and back half wont. Plan...
Cellular PVC or Wood?
HI, I'm about to starting building a chameleon cage (planning to buy jacksons at end of year). I've already got it pretty much designed in sketchup but I just saw a build on another forum (Not about chameleons) and they used Cellular PVC to build a terrarium for Poison...
