Tango unfortunately did not make it to the vet's. We live 45 minutes away from the exotics vet in our area. All other vets around here with "exotics expertise" are semi-versed in birds.
Her condition rapidly diminished over the course of this morning to this evening. She went from drinking and...
One step forward. Two steps back. She was doing great things morning. This evening she was bad. Sunning later she got worse. We're running out to the vet now for an emergency check up. Not looking good right now.
You said urates are orange, is there a chance it's some that rubbed or ran down on his tail? I know some times stuff that sticks to the skin takes more time to shed off. Could be on top instead of underneath.
A good sign of dehydration is how the urate looks if it's white you're good. If it's orange or yellow, he may be dehydrated. Good call on the shower, since you are dealing with humidity issues this may need to be a common if he'll permit it. Definitely don't overstress him. Definitely read over...
Responsive enough to find water and drink from the drip on a plant. Still thirsty so she's drinking straight from the main drip. I imagine this is evidence that she is attentive and on her way back to good health!
She's not the happiest shade of green Ive seen today, but I imagine that is at...
How's your chameleon doing? Did the issue clear up or did you have to start dosing?
We are dealing with a sick cham that needs to be force fed meds and liquid food at the moment. She inevitably gets a bit of liquid near her windpipe opening every dosing due to her small size and salivates (or...
There seems to be a drop in expertise at CF. Used to be a lot more folks well versed in the husbandry here. Hopefully your little cham-p is doing better!
I would suggest if the issue it still happening to contact the seller and get some advice as they should know this little guy quite well...
Sorry no one replied to your question yesterday. Go ahead and fill out this:
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What...
Hunger strikes can be scary. Adapting to a new home may be the culprit (and two days is not a terribly long time not to eat. Reptiles in general can normally go for a while. In the wild, who knows how long you'll be in between meals?), but Angelwolf has a point. This poor cham does not look too...
Friday: No food this morning. I think I may just do two bigger juice feedings tonight. ~4:00 and ~7:00 (maybe all at once? We'll see). Tango is moving a decent amount today. There is still a noticeable weakness to her, but she went to water on her own today, which I believe is promising!
So every time I try to give her medicine or bug juice she seems to catch some in or around her wind pipe and we spend a bit of time removing saliva and monitoring her, which cannot be good. I normally am only giving her .5 ml or less and aiming down her throat so nothing can pool at the front of...
New findings. It appears Tango's "heaving" may be due to some trapped food that came back up. There's a blob looking object at the top of her palate that does not look like it belongs. We'll try to get this out soon. May require a vet visit.
I gave her .3ml juice this morning. Its all she would...
I imagine its the taste of the medicine, but she has been exhibiting what I could only really describe as dry heaving. She will sway her head side to side open her mouth and extend her tongue. I've seen it several times now. Has anyone else experienced this? Id say its her trying to get the...
