    Resource for 100W incandescent bulbs?

Has anyone found a place online that sells 100W incandescent bulbs (household type)? That's what I've been using, but they don't make them in the US anymore. I like them because they are cheap, but I guess I'll need to break down and buy a more expensive "heat bulb".

    House flies questions

I've been wondering if house flies were OK for them to eat. A few days ago, I saw a fly on the wall so I brought out my 5 month old cham to catch it. It was awesome to watch her go for it! I would be nice to put some flying insects in the cage with her.

How much do you feed a juvenile veiled chameleon?

I'm not sure if I'm feeding my little girl the right amount. She is about 5 months old. I usually feed her 6-8 crickets + 2-3 worms in the morning, then about 1/2 that amount after work in the late afternoon. Is it possible to overfeed chameleons? Or do they stop when they are full?

    dusting vs. gut loading (crickets)

Just to clarify... Someone said "dust crickets twice a day". Don't they mean "twice a day, dust the crickets that u r about to feed the Cham". You don't dust your whole cricket supply if they aren't about to be ingested by the Cham. True? I'm a new owner and glad to see u r doing the research...

    Color changing question

Good to know about the broccoli! It has been removed from the cricket cage. I put in a new basking bulb and it raised the temp 8 degrees. I'll see if she likes that more. I noted today that she is a lighter green on the bottom 1/2 of her body.

    Color changing question

She usually sits under the basking light, so hopefully that's all it is (trying to soak in more rays). I've ordered a new thermometer for her new Reptibreeze cage but it hasn't arrived yet. I'll grab a household thermometer and put it under the light to make sure it's warm enough. Come to think...

    Color changing question

I have a 4 month old veiled chameleon that is recovering from early stages of MBD. We've been giving her plenty of calcium powder since seeing the vet 2 weeks ago, and gut loading the crickets better (mustard greens, carrots, broccoli). In the last week, I've noticed that her baseline coloring...

Branching out beyond crickets and waxworms...

I just bought small silkworms and phoenix worms from mulberry farms. Shipping to AK wasn't too bad ($12.95). (I checked out Linda's website first, but the shipping to Alaska was cost prohibitive, unfortunately.)

Branching out beyond crickets and waxworms...

I have a 3 month old veiled cham that has only been fed crickets, wax worms and a little bit of fruit flies. I live in Alaska and our local pet store only has crickets, wax worms, mealworms and superworms. From what I've heard, meal worms can be tough to eat and superworms are too large for our...

    Possible MBD and other questions

Update on little Emily... she still has a good appetite! She has been eating dusted crickets and wax worms for 2 days now. She does not seem as shaky. I put some carrots and mustard greens in the crickets box. My job now is to study up on breeding other feeders besides crickets and wax worms. I...

    Supplementation/MBD 1

Kerbie: I wanted to know the answers to your questions, too! Did you get more info?

    Possible MBD and other questions

Great info! In Alaska, fresh produce isn't cheap and doesn't stay fresh long, so I think I'll take the constant gut loading approach (as long as I have the produce on hand). I have more food questions, but I'll put them in the feeding forum (trying to learn the rules to forums here! :-)

    Possible MBD and other questions

OK. A gutloading question. I read through ferretinmyshoes blog about gutloading and she says "gutload with calcium rich vegetables several hours before being fed to your chameleon". What should I be feeding my crickets during the days before that? I attempting breeding crickets once and it...

    Possible MBD and other questions

We saw the vet today. She was awesome! She confirmed the MBD diagnosis - no shock there. She said her belly felt "gassy". She did not think we needed calcium injections or even oral liquids. She basically told us to do what you guys have been advocating (calcium POWDER). Our local pet store only...

    Possible MBD and other questions

I sincerely appreciate the quick and informative replies from everyone!! I wish I had studied your forums months ago (instead of asking the folks at the pet shop). I will call around town to see if there is a vet in Anchorage, Alaska that deals with reptiles (I learned that from reading through...
