Marimo the Ellioti

I figured I would start a little photo album of Marimo, my little Trioceros Ellioti! This way you guys can enjoy him and all his glory :) I'll regularly post pictures too, so you can all see his growth as well!

As of these images below, he is 3 months old:

He's quite the active little guy, always moving about. (except when he's sleeping of course!) He also seems less scared climbing onto my nose than my finger...

I'll get some pictures of his enclosure, once one comes out clear enough! My phone doesn't seem to like his lights very much, so the pictures come out all grainy :(

You will certainly be getting more later! :D I did have a really cute one of him, but it focused on the background at the last second.. and then he moved :( So you couldn't see anything! I'll work hard to try and provide more ;) There's not enough Ellioti pictures around here!

Yay for Elliot's Chameleons! He's a stunner! I won't get bored of seeing pix of him. Does he have the typical black gular grooves on his chin?

Yes he does :) Although because he's so small, you can only really see them when he's basking, but they're there! :D He also has a wide range of colours he changes form and to already... although only a very dull green so far :) But I can tell he'll look great once his colours come in :)

He looks the most comical while basking and I really need to take a picture. I have a very low-heat basking lamp (Hot enough for him, but not hot enough for other chameleons) and he stretches his back waaay up, making himself as flat as a leaf and leans to the side, kinda like a solar panel. One side is dark, the other side is light. That on top of him actually being on top of a leaf that's way too large for him looks funny! But he seems to enjoy it.

Here's some more pictures of Marimo :) Haven't taken any since I got back from vacation! (He's actually grown quite a bit, but it's hard to tell with the pictures. He does NOT sit still for a second. He's always cruising...!)

He was more than happy to climb his 2 meter high ficus tree while I cleaned his cage today and moved his lights to check if our new veiled closed her eyes under his light fixtures.

Thanks everyone :D He is indeed doing good and I am happy with his colours :) He goes all spotty while hunting (And when he first saw the new veiled, who my husband had on his arm when I was feeding him. He doesn't like her and actually twitched violently a couple of times and fell off a leaf! Is that normal?). His PJs are very white on the other hand. Sometimes while relaxing, he is a nice green, but more often than not, he's brown. Quite the colourful character!

He is awesome!! Now you need to start looking for a date for him:D
We're looking for a nice girlfriend for him ;) Unfortunately, we haven't found one yet! It's only a matter of time though :) He's still young, so he has some space to mature before then!

The other day I had heard, that all his siblings died over Christmas break. One by one they started dropping, for no reason, dead. My work colleague said he saw nothing wrong with them, and they were fine the day before. My guess is that they got sick, as he wasn't very up to cleaning the poop off the leaves last time I was there...which is why I took Marimo before the first 3 months of their lives were up (Plus it was my birthday, and he was more than happy to let me have him a bit early, since the terrarium had been set up a month in advance). It's really sad, seeing as he was the smallest of the batch, and now the only one left. I'm just happy I got him when I did, and more than happy that everyone says he's doing well, because I very much agree :)

I got some nice pictures of Marimo in his pjs :D

Although, I think the flash woke him while I was trying to get a better camera position in the dark, one without the leaf shadow on his face... he was none too happy! (He's happily asleep now though, so no harm done!)

That was one mean glare! ;)

He is giving you the stink eye in that last pic....LOL
Beautiful guy you got there!

Actually he was just opening his eye a bit as if to say "turn off the flash pleaaase!" but yeah, sure looks like he was giving me one nasty look! ;) He's quite the lovely cham.. he's extremely energetic too. It's really hard to get him to sit still for more than 2 seconds while I focus a camera most of the time! I wanted to do progression pictures of him on my finger.. but he will NOT sit still for more than a millisecond!

Such an awesome looking chameleon. Makes me want an ellioti cham

I'm sure he'd thank you if he could, so I will say thank you for him!

Ellitoi chameleons are great :D They're kinda rougher (Well, at least rougher than my young veiled is) and are one of the smaller chameleons. Not as small as a pygmy, but not nearly as big as a veiled or panther. I love the way he looks, and his personality is special. Certainly a recommended chameleon!
