I was just following up on the joke... but I don't know I got a mistking and I'm happy with it. Spend around 150 I think.

I think i have the easiest system for the money. If you have a landry tub sink you can hook up a lawn sprinkler timer to it...add in the 1/4 inch black hose from toro and add in misting nozzles. This will ensure that you are using the freshest of water. I also just use the hot tap...by the time it reaches them its very pleasant warm shower. Most of my chamelons love it. During the summer i have them outside and i use cool water on 80+ days.

It is worth the extra 50 or so to get the Mistking or the Herpmist they quality will pay for it self.

That system will not make you very happy. Mistking or Herpmist = Happy

The wholesale cost on that pump is $25 in single unit quantities, so you can figure the manufacturer has $10 or less in parts and labor. It uses 120 volts AC directly into the pump and a diode to energize and relax the coil as the electricity alternately flows and is blocked by the diode.

Be sure to ask if the way they are selling it is listed with Underwriters Laboratories!

If you'd like to hear and see how loud that pump is, visit http://www.herpmist.com/videos.shtml

You're much better off getting a quiet pump that won't burn out if you run it dry or for more than five minutes at a time. Although, I've met quite a few great people by replacing these pumps after they've burned out!

Good for burning the house down....
Howdy,

Unfortunately Summoner12 is closer to the truth than anyone of us would like :(.

That style of pump is designed for a low duty cycle (ex: on for a few minutes, off for an hour). If run for longer than 5 minutes, they get very hot. Part of the danger comes from mistakes/failures with timers. I remember reports of meltdowns. One incident involved something like a carpet fire or at least extensive damage. I personally melted one years ago .

Stick with:
Herpmist
Mistking
ProMist

Why do you say that?

Most pumps (yours included) are cooled by the water that flows through them. So if you resevoir runs dry, you will end up with an uncooled pump.

The uncooled pump will have a potential to either burn itself out or burn other things. both of which as been either seen or experienced (not by me though).

The other down side to that pump is the noise factor. It is almost as loud as one of those electric etching pens.

Other things to consider is that with that clear tubing, you will likely get alot of algae build up in that hose which you will need to clean.

The system while workable is cheap. And cheap for a reason. If you can I would recommend returning what you got and spending the extra scratch for something I know you will not recommend. Mist King, Herp Mist, Promist, or Rain maker are the more common brands of systems on this site.:D

I personally have decided to go with Herp Mist. I spent a pretty penny but my whole reason for spending the money is, safety, fill and forget, and regular moisture for the chams. Thats just my opinion.

Hope that helps..
