florida heat question

If you live in south florida you know how hot it is during the day. When is it too hot for the Veiled Cham?

I had him out for a few hours ( prob about 4 total) and i was out side spraying with spray bottle every 1/2 hr. He was drinking when i sprayed but being it as so hot i wanted to make sure he did not overheat LOL is that possible?

Close to when i took him inside he did have his mouth open so i took a guess and figured it was too much and brought him in after i sprayed him down again.

being new i am trying to do the best for him and i know i will make mistakes along the way. So thanks for being here to answer my silly questions.

I take my guys out for a couple hours in the mornings and then again in the evening. It's just too hot here in the mid day. IMHO

I do the same. Although, I do have him out in my patio sometimes midday cruising around. If I see him with his mouth open, then I bring him in. Your chameleon was on the loose before you got him and who knows for how long really. He was out 24/7 at some point and survived. You just have to monitor the situation and if you see them gaping too much then you know they are overheating.

I live in Orlando and I have my 5 month old panther in an outdoor enclosure 24/7. Just make sure he has plenty of shade and is sprayed at least 3x a day and he will be alright. The natural sunlight helps them tremendously.

I live in Orlando as well. I have a baby panther (6 weeks) and I bring him out many times during the week, but he gapes after about 5-10 minutes.

But Hubbles a baby....so he gets hot more easily.

I would just monitor your cham closely and see how he/she takes to the weather. :D

You're right he's much too small right now to handle the heat. I did not keep my panther in an outdoor enclosure until he was approaching 4 months. I currently have another 8 week old panther that I keep inside. It's still much too how to be keeping him in an outside enclosure.
