egg on bottom of cage

I noticed yesterday that my female had dug up one side of the planter I have in there for her egg laying bin. I saw a single white egg on the floor of the cage this morning before work. First, does this happen often or is it unusual? Second, should I assume she has finished laying all of her eggs? She does not look deflated or any smaller in size. Should I give it one more day before pulling the laying bin out?

Continue to leave the laying bin in until you are sure that she layer the eggs.

I noticed a change in her coloring as well. She is very dark, nearly black on her back legs in a band that extends across her back. Does that sound unusual?

these are a little blurry and she was sleeping. It does not look nearly as dark in her sleeping colors but you can see she is still quite plump.

I would say she could still have eggs. I would leave the laying bin in for now. Are the eggs fertile? If not there is no hurry at all to get the bin out.

The single egg I found at the bottom of the cage was white, about the size of a jelly bean, with a little dent in it. Does that sound like a fertile egg? This is my first experience so I would not know fertile from infertile.

Do not take the laying bin out...IMHO it should be left in there all the time, except when you take it out to dig up the eggs.

Does she see you watching her when she is digging? You want to leave her alone...except for feeding and watering her when she is up in the branches (not digging).

I see that she was mated about 5 weeks ago...its still not too late for her to be laying them.

leav it in. make sure the medium will hold a tunnel. She might be dropping eggs on the surface in desperation if she cant dig what she wants. Or did she perhaps get disturbed while she was digging (did you see her / she see you)?

Is their dirt in the laying bin? I ask this because i cant really tell in the pic if the black on her feet is dirt from the laying bin. Maybe she was digging before bed.

When Lily was due to lay her second clutch she dropped a single egg a day or so before she dug a hole and laid the rest. Sent me into a panic, bless her, but she went on to dig and lay successfully. Like others have said, leave the laying bin in her cage, just make sure that the medium is damp enough. Once she started digging, cover the cage so she has no distractions and cannot see you.

i checked the cage today after work and found 4 eggs in different places around the cage. The largest of them was on top of the sand in her laying bin. She still looks plump so dont think she laid them all yet.

I have a female that dropped eggs before she laid..About 8 dropped eggs over two days. It was very stressful on me wondering if she was alright!

The dropped eggs where yellow and not fertile. She then went on to dig and lay all her eggs normally.. She has laid 3 clutched and always dropped eggs prior to laying.

She is the only female I have that has done this ...

only one of the eggs that she has dropped is yellow. I have put all of them in the vermiculite just in case they eventually hatch. I hope she lays the rest soon. Its going on 6 weeks!

She has been digging while I am at work. I can see the surface of the laying bin changing so I know she is pushing sand out from one side or the other. I do not think she has seen me watching her while digging. I put a sheet over her cage a week ago and only check on her first thing in the morning and when I get home at night.

Is the sand moist enough to dig a tunnel? Is the container big and deep enough?

What is in the bin ? If she dosen't like what's in the bin she wont lay. I have had this problem before with different things and have never had any problems with play sand.

After trying various options, I now use play sand almost exclusively. er. I mean the chameleons use playsand. I just give it to them. I personally dont lay eggs.
