Considered a complete protein because of the wealth of amino acids -- the building blocks of protein. It is also a rich source of B complex vitamins, beta-carotene, vitamin E, carotenoids, manganese, zinc, copper, iron, selenium and gamma linolenic acid (an essential fatty acid), a natural source of small quantities of Iodine / Potassium iodide (KI). Imagine a vegetable with more protein than soy or tofu, more beta caroten than carrots, more iron than beef, an excellent source of protective phytochemicals, naturally low in fat, a source of the essential fatty acid GLA and easy to digest.

Comments

This alge does not contain pre-formed vitamin A. True vitamin A is found in the pre-formed state only in animal sources. What Spirulina does contain is the yellow/orange pigments cryptoxanthine and beta-carotene from which vitamin A can be made (coverted to), at least in some animals.
