Zoomed's latest creation...

I just the manufacture of novelty items for the sake of it is a waste of energy, better spent on something more useful.
10 million plastic volcanoe humidifiers will still be sitting in landfills undegraded hundreds of years from now. The last thing the earth needs is more trash!
Yes, the same could said of many things, asthetics dont really come into it. :)

Living plants are better for the climate of your enclosure, look better (those fake ones look not realistic), after some time espacially climbing plants create amazing cages.

Fake plants are just ok for tanks in which ill animals are kept because they could be desinfected better

Agree 100%, it's just a kind of ugly trash which looks so cheap !

I think a few of us are misunderstanding that for some people, they might need to raise the humidity levels in their cages.

this item, regardless of what it looks like, might be able to help someone get the proper humidity levels needed....again, regardless of what it looks like.

are there better items on the market that you can put in a cage that will add humidity like this? I'm sure there are.
so what do they look like? a rock? a plant? a box?
and how is the above "looks" any better then a volcano?

the item provides a solution to a problem regardless of what it looks like.
I'll say it again, just what is wrong with it besides that there might be better products on the market for such a need?

as for the whole "GREEN" thing, this thread is far more "silly" by wasting fossil fuel for such a discussion.

not trying to argue, but I'm trying to "see" the real reason behind a dislike for such a product.
not one of you based any of your ansers apon it's capabilitys or lack of it.
so it's just the look of it that disturbs most?

shoot, my car doesn't look like a horse and buggy, and is far less green too.
should I get rid of it?

Harry

It doesn't vibrate for the record, all ultrasonic humidifiers create fog through ultrasonic vibrations.
Its tacky and horrible. Zoomed likes to slap chameleons on everything.

All that said, I still respect zoomed as the first company to bring an acceptable chameleon cage to market in the US. (I'm not counting LLL, etc. because those aren't properly packaged, retail ready and distributed products that local pet stores can readily obtain).

oh thats not new at all, its been around for a WHILE, my local pet store has had it in their "high" quality cages.

Buy that thing, make yourself and Zoomed happy

Bit difficult to do that without buying and testing one Harry, I have no such intentions.
But for what its worth, hand mising with a 98c bottle will acheive the same thing, increased humidity. I think its entirely superfluous!
This is my personal opinion on such products.

I dont know...I guess it could serve its purpose as a humidifier...but why not buy a normal one? How much does it cost.

Also, why a volcano?

It just seems they are directly targeting small children with it, the ones who associate reptiles with dinosaours. Like said before...its a bit fisher price...

I just dont see the connection between the volcano and a reptile, but decent marketing strategy none the less...

Would never buy this.

its ugly and not something I would suggest to someone who needs to increase humidity in a screen cage. I can't imagine it holds the same amount of water a household humidifier can. So you'll be filling it a lot.

If I had to use one of these I would take out the LED guts and put them into something as a gimmick and I would fist-can paint the whole thing black and green. I think it looks silly.

ah, no.

misting is for drinking.
humidifier is for adding humidity to a "dry" cage inbetween mistings.

sure, some extra misting will help with humidity, but it will never replace using a humidifier if after all the live plants you have in there and mistings you've done is still not enough.
let's also face facts, excesive mistings will also kill plants due to the fact that they wont be able to breath...so in turn, you might have to use fake plants as a result of day and night mistings in order to keep the humidity levels high enough.

remember folks, not eveyone has a chameleon in a house that has perfect humidity levels.
some will need to use a humidifier like myself.

personaly, I would never use such a product for many reasons not stated sofar.
but I find it silly that members here are so "fixed" on only one solution to problems or husbandry, with no leway or an open mind to other ideas.
think of what I'm saying like the "screen cage vs glass" debate I see repeatedly here on this forum....I'll bet the first guy to use a screen cage was looked at with the same bugged out eyes from all the glass users.

totaly agree with you on this one.
I would even add that I'll bet you wont be able to adjust the output of mist that it provides, thus it will give off too much or too little humidity.

just my two cents

Aha
There are so many ways to let the water out of the cage. That's just another alibi why to use fake plants

I think it would be cool in my frog tank.

They have something similiar in a fish tank at the Dubai aquarium.

you think so?
realy?
look it up bro, constanly wet plants will die from lack of "breathing". leaves need dry times in order to breath.

Harry

Well i definately think it would scare some of my chameleons. Poor Jacques is afraid of any scren, computer, tv, anything he tries to hide from it. Def. a no go for me.

Mmh I'm just thinking about the plants in the rainforests....
How long do you keeping chameleons who need much water ?

...and in the rainforests there are "dry" moments durring the day and night to dry off all them leaves.

when your room humidity is 0%, even 3 or 4 pots of plants are going to have problems with having the humidity high enough for most chams.
then there are chams that require far more then the norm...say 80% humidity when the cage is dry.
humidifiers are the only way without killing plants by misting (on and off) for 24 hours a day.
