Zoo Med screen cages.

I would avoid these cages, their not water friendly. I'm using with auto misters and the screen is rotting at nozzel entre point, and rusting wherever spray water hits.
Unless you like the natural rust red look, and like DIY re-screening projects.

Stick with the aluminum cages manufactured in the USA and you should be good.

ZooMed Reptibreezes are advertised to be made of aluminum and corrosion resistant (product page). Unfortunately, some part of this isn't true. All of mine have spots of corrosion from water contact.

This product seems to be the most economical product for Canadians, though -- screen cages are way cheap for Americans, but the shipping kills us up here. :(

Howdy,

At the Pomona reptile show, I recommended that shoppers might need to use a magnet to test screen cages for sale since it was not clear from their advertizing whether or not they were actually aluminum screen .

I carry the all aluminum cages that won't rust.

I have yet to update my website to accommodate orders for multiple cages (i.e., shipping cost determined by weight). But in light of the recent rusting problems surfacing, I wanted to let people here know that I sell the all-aluminum cages that don't rust. They are the same ones you see on a major herp supply website. These cages are made in the USA and with materials made in the USA.

Up until now I have only sold them through the SBCK meetings in Los Angeles and had a set price that included tax for California buyers. I will have to make adjustments now because any going out of state would not be taxed and I want to match the prices you see online.

You would be supporting a good cause! Let me know if I can help.

Thanks.

same problem here.I am a window&door installer and rescreened all mine if you call local window comp they rescreen windows. Tell them its the same frame as window screens and you want it rescreened.I do it for $80.00:

Yes, but for $80 you can purchase a brand new cage.

And the point is why pay for something when it's just going to crap out on you (and I have heard from many people that Zoo Med was less than sympathetic when it came to this issue).

not even $80.... $90! the POS cage costs more than the nice LLL cages.

i got a rusty one of them (like 2 x 2.5 x 2.5) at a garage sale for 5$ with all sorts of other crap thrown in to sweet'n the deal (large foutain, large water/food dish resin, fake plants, basking/hideout resin, analog hydro/thermometer) none of which i will ever use, but the price was right for the frame :D I figure it will be cheaper to re-screen it later if i end up needing something that small.. I have done enough pool cages and windows to not be afraid of it..

they do look like a$$ when they rot like that :(

I just checked all my Zoo-Med cages, all 9 of them, and they are all steel screen. S*** it will cost me a fortune to replace them all! I am not having any problems yet with the screen rusting, but the hinges are all rusted. My LLL Reptile cages are all perfect and I have had them for years. My hubby works at a Pet Supplies Distributor for the east coast and they sell Zoo-Med. He is passing the buck to the purchasing department.

Man, that takes a LARGE bite out of my pocket.

Check with your local hardware store and see if they can rescreen the cage. If they can't, maybe they know someone who can?
