Ziggy was chirping!

I came home from work yesterday to Ziggy (2 year old ambilobe panther) in a full shed nearly finished. When he was stretching and yawning to get the skin off he was making a chirping noise, and I dont mean a quiet little chirp. It was quite audible almost like a squeal. I am not sure if this is air pockets escaping from inside his mouth or what. Once the skin was off he was just hangin out in his fresh suit not making any noise at all. I have not heard it since yesterday. Has anyone see (or heard) this behaviour before?

Every now and then Larry will be hand feeding and air will escape his mouth after his tongue shoots and before it retracts. It sounds like a combination of a squeal and a hiss.

My little female made a wheeze kind of hiss noise when she shot at a few really far crickets the other day. I think the noises you usually hear from chams will come deep from their lungs so hisses and maybe a whistle kind of sound are possible but since I don't think they don't have very developed vocal chords, a chirp is odd. If he was "stretching" as he made the noise then it was just him forcibly inhaling or exhaling..did you catch him breathing heavy?

chirping chams would be lovely though:D

It was only when he was stretching his neck and mouth so I am pretty sure it was air escaping. The odd thing was that it was happening every couple of minutes for like an hour. I am sure he is fine but I wish I had gotten it on video.

That's pretty wild!! I bet you were really surprised..I know I would have been!! Maybe he's part canary...LOL! :)
