I think it is you that are being defensive-we are just inquisitive. He is really a year old-look through past posts. I am just super curious because even though I have seen smaller, deforemed chams-they still show typical male coloration.
So-does it matter? No
But is it interesting? Yes.
I am not trying to be mean-that little one sounds like he has a very caring home indeed-I just NEVER see male Veileds that look like that, but this week 2 people are showing male chams that have spurs that are old enough by far to show male coloration that look exactly like females, and then people post I clearly see bars but not many people are saying that looks nothing like what a year old MALE veiled should look like.
no he is my only one. I don't know if it means anything but when he was born and for the first three months he was a reddish brown color. There was a female the same color as him. Plus they almost had to force feed him. He only wanted fruit flies for three months. When I got him he finally started eating crickets. He has been growing very slowing ever since he was born.![]()
Is anyone else perplexed by the female coloration and spurs??? There is not a male barred pattern to be found on this little one.
Casque shape and size and overall size are much more in line with a female-no obvious man-bulge?????
So I just take it that he healthy and will eventually get big at his own pace and that he is unique, and we wil love him not matter what.![]()
I still say male I can see the bars, they are faint but there!
He has slow growth but he wont stop growing until he is full grown.
I say in the next 2 months his bars will be much more prominent.
Have you ever put him infront of a mirror? Mature males will puff up and display their colours. Try that then maybe his bars will show more and if they do take a pic and post it on here.
Have you ever seen a Veiled? I am not trying to be insulting-but females show the barring that the cham in question shows. At a year I find it hard to beleive he will develop bars all of a sudden.
I have owned veileds for almost 4 years so yes . . .
I know what you mean by the female barring but it doesnt look the same to me.
Am i just blessed to have big beautiful Veileds that look like male Veileds with yellow stripes and clear barring? Does anyone else own one of these feminine looking males or is this a joke? Even my runty, deformed 1.5 year old male Veiled looks like a normal male Veiled in coloring! Help-am I the crazy one here?
Like I said-I see the spurs-but NOTHING else looks male about that chameleon.
