Think I'm getting the xl reptibreeze for xmas and trying to get everything all lined up and running before my purchase, sounds cool what you are setting upI'm setting up mine in a no drain glass enclosure.
3.5 inches of soil for the plants. I'm thinking off putting window screen over the soil for water absorption/evaporation and to prevent lizard from ingesting anything

Both work well if setup properly, but the no substreight is easer. The one with substreight is easer to maintain humidity. I have the latter, and I can tell you from experience there is a drainage issue that you will have to address, and it in my opinion is best utilized for montane species. Was wondering I've seen diffrent set ups and some have dirt and rocks in bottom and some have next to nothing but branches going to a plant what are your thaught's on the 2 different set ups and purpose ?
Same here as i experienced mold. Its a substrate that cant handle water very wellI am not fond of dirt, too many potential issues: impactions, bad bacteria etc. Not a fan!
