i got a male panthe cham last week on monday, i had the screen cage open while i was doing something and he walked out and ontop of the cage , he was trying to climb up the light stand i use for my lights but had no grip, i had to use a stick to get him on and then put him in the cage. he was very scared his mouth was opening a little and he was trying to run away from me. any body know what i shud do?

1. Do not leave the cage door open and he will not escape.

2. Leave him alone for a couple of weeks with the exception of feeding, misting, cleaning, so he can get use to his new environment. He is still afraid of you and will need more time to adapt.

okay thank youu i was also wondering i have crickets i have been feeding him but he wont eat those he likes dubia roaches and mealworms, is that bad he wont eat crickets?

No, mine won't eat crickets either. The roaches are good but the mealworms are not the best. Try, silkworms, hornworms, blue bottle flies, Phoenix worms, stick bugs and butterworms( only a few times a week they are a treat ). My guy won't touch the discoid roaches I've tried but he loves those green banana roaches.

sorry for all the questions im a newbie at this , i have my lights go on at 8 and shut off at 8 i usually am awake after 8 with my tv on , or i come home and turn it on, is that bad hes not sleeping fully? i have a towel over the tank right now

Sorry to break it to you but Chams need darkness to sleep. If he's not fully sleeping after lights out then you are disturbing him. It will cause him a lot of stress and eventually shorten his life. I had my guy in the living room when I first got him. After lights out I would take his lights down and completely cover the top 2/3 of his cage with a double sized beach towel. I would use clothes pins to close up any gaps and I left the bottom 1/3 open for ventilation. It was very dark inside when I would peek. This was in a 16 x 16 x 30 enclosure. I eventually moved him to the office because it was difficult with the light timers, mister etc. and I considered how hard it would be to cover a larger enclosure. You could manage it with a dark colored sheet as long as you draped it so a little airflow was getting in. My guy even has started tucking himself in earlier now that the days are shorter. I'm moving his lights off earlier to 7am to 7pm.

i have the 16x16x30 screen cage, do u think i shud move him into a diff room i plan on moving him into the corner , having my wall on one side and my dresser on the other blocking light, also right now he is next to my fish tank , do u think the movement of fish can cause him stress

If the fish tank is lit up then that is part of the problem. The movement of the fish might cause stress but I would think its like holding out a piece of chocolate cake just out of reach. I think the movement will stimulate him wanting to catch an eat one. If you can't move him into a room that can be dark at night then you must cover the enclosure with a sheet. You need to make darkness not just shaded from the light. I do think moving him into the corner where it's a little more protected will make him feel safer but I don't think it will completely solve the not sleeping at night issue. For now try to really cover up his enclosure at lights out and make it dark.
