Yet another Misting question

Whats the trick to keep from flooding your Live plants while misting? Most plants we use require moderate watering. Is there some way to cover the soil? or do people just not worry about it. The pots i use have drainage holes but the soil stays pretty soaked and id prefer not to start rotting the roots.

i use an umbrella plant and havnt had any probs so far watering or misting my chams cage. yes there should be something on the soil specifically larger sized rocks so that the cham doesnt hit the soil with his tounge trying getting food

on my bad i should or read alittle more closely umm they make a film that you can put on the ground for gardening to keep weeds from growing i doubt it would help totally but it might help esp if you double layered it

i put about 2inches of rocks and sand in the bottom of myh plants it help drain out the excess water.

Right...use a faster draining potting soil (add pebbles, pumice, perlite below the surface, don't use sand or lots of organic material) and don't put the pot in a saucer. Actually, avoid sand unless it is very coarse. Sand can compact and suffocate the roots.

Thanks Those answers help alot. I just used an organic potting soil and the plants are doing great But i think Ill put a layer of small rocks in the bottom and larger ones on the top, Think ill check on the film also, If i remember correctly, lay it one way and it helps keep excess water out. Brain needs to start working LOL
