Yet Another Male/Female Question?

I'm new to this forum (just signed up) and new to owning chameleons this year.

:: waves hello ::

I recently bought a baby (2 month old) panther chameleon. I've read the forums on here about sexing baby panther chameleons...but perhaps I'm too new at this, since I'm still confused. It would be awesome if I could get opinions on whether it's a male or female. I'm attaching pictures...hope this works! Thanks!

ill say female she has no hhemi penis bulge and the colour plays a small part if you get a pic of her vent and base of her tail you will get better more accurate feedback

Thank you very much for the welcome! I was worried about sounding a bit like a goofy newbie on here.

Two votes say female so far...but I'm a bit confused. Before joining these forums, I Googled "sexing baby panther chameleons" and came up with this thread:

https://www.chameleonforums.com/how-sex-baby-panthers-33997/

I realize I double-posted at the end of that thread...working on deleting that post. Like I said, I'm a newbie. :)

Perhaps I read it wrong, but I thought the absence of a bulge meant male?

Welcome!

You did in fact, read that wrong. :D

its ok, the forum can sometimes cause info overload.

For panthers that young:

Males will have a bulge at the base of the tail. The tail base is more pronounced than in a female.
Though at younger ages it can be harder to sex them. Its sometimes easiest when you have two of different genders to compare and see the differences.

Females will have a thin tail base.

Yours is a female.

At that age, you cannot base gender off of coloring. They all look the same.

Now, if that baby was say 5-6 months old, it would be easy to base it off of color, as male panthers will start to get the bright rainbow coloring in, while females will stay the same brown/pink/tan coloring of a baby.
