Yemen vs veiled

Who says Yemen and why? Do we in the US say veiled and other countries say Yemen? If so, why?

Sometimes I like to say yemen when I don't want to write out "veiled chameleon," because it is a noun as opposed to "veiled" which is an adjective. That just seems to make the sentence structure feel more natural to me.

They are literally from Yemen, and their casque resembles a veil. Simple common names based on easy-to-remember features. It doesn't really matter what you call it aside from its Latin name. Kinda like how panther chameleons are also often called rainbow chameleons. Most of it has to do with what the importers write down on the sheets they give to pet stores. No one wants to buy a Furcifer pardalis...but a PANTHER chameleon. Sell the sizzle, not the steak.

Thanks! I knew that they came from Yemen, I was just curious as to who uses Yemen vs who uses veiled. I didn't know if it was another US vs the rest of the world thing. I say veiled.
