I am totally stoked, I just picked off about 75 eggs out of my enclosure! Happy times lol:p

No doubt! I wasn't really expecting for it to be a success because I only had 7 moths pupated and only 4 had hatched, and heard that the female to male ratio could be problematic, so I am a little "extra excited!":)

how did you do your set up I am looking to make a new one. Also what plant did you use for them to put there eggs on?

I put the the worms in a 5 gallon bucket and covered them in organic soil. After 2 weeks I dug them out and put them in a small Tupperware with sticks for them to crawl up on and put the Tupperware in a mesh enclosure that is still partially set up with chameleon stuff( fake vines and fake leaves and two hibiscuss and one tomato plant. The hibiscuss and tomato plant wilted and there was no leaves left on the tomato plant but the smell stimulated egg laying ( I guess) they pretty much laid on the mesh screen and a little on the vines and fake plants, mostly on the screen. My enclosure is 5 ft tall by 2 ft by 2 ft and I hung a hummingbird feeder with sugar water in for them them to drink. It's really cool watching them hover over and sipping the sugar water:) I noticed one having a hard time finding where to drink from it so maybe offering two different kinds might be a good idea. As far as how long it takes to hatch I don't know yet I heard anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks. I am sure Swiss is right on the money with one week!

wow tahts not long at all! I thought it took like all year for the eggs to hatch XD Is it the same for the sphinx moths? I know pretty soon one of my Hornworm Larvae will be wanting to pupate soon so I will be doing the same. So how long does the pupate stage last?

I would love to see some pics of your set up if you have any. I'm hoping to raise some horn worms this summer.

I am talking about the sphinx moth. Hawk and sphinx same thing. At least I think they are called hawk, sphinx, hummingbird. I buried the tobacco hornworm

ooo wow im retarded XD Im not sure whether mulberry farm sells the tobacco or the tomato hornworm.... No clue. how long did ur pupate stage last? Do you wait until they are fully pupated in their enclosure before you put them in the soil? Lets say I wait 2 weeks dig them up and they are still encased in their pupate shell thing... would it be alright to just let them stay their and dig their own way out?

It took about 3 weeks and no I buried them in the soil when the line in there back started throbbing. From what I understand you don't want to bother them while they are forming there shell or what ever you call it lol. After 2 weeks it is best to dig them up so you can check on them if they get really light and squishy then there no good and should be removed to prevent them from spoiling the rest. I just transferred mine to a smaller Tupperware with soil still in it so I can keep an eye on them and lightly mist them twice a day, when they are fully pupated( they still wiggle in there when you hold them, it's pretty cool) I don't think it mattered if it's tobacco or tomato they are cared for just the same and look almost identical and feed the same plants. The Tobacco worm has seven lines and the tomato has eight I think

hmmm Ive been looking for the throbbing heart thing I read about and I really dont know where to look for that at.... I mean my guy is id say about 4inchs and he keeps walking around theedge of the enclosure I made for them.... hes been doing that since this morning... not even stopping to take a nibble of the mullberry leaves.

When they start to wander they are ready. The pulsing line is directly down there back and it is thin, it resembles the poop in a shrimp!

Okay Idk how well you can see in these picctures but here...he...she is?
