Would this work?

My mom is a bird breeder and she wants to give me this cage for free. It is 18x30x67". Would it work for my panther? I feel like it is too big but I wanted your thoughts. He is currently in a screened 24x24x48.

Not to big at all. You can totally make it work. Especially for FREE!!! Is your panther cup feeding?

I think it would be great! It might be a little harder to keep humidity up and feeders in, but it's much sturdier for an outdoor cage if you use it for that and bigger is always better! The bars will be easy for him to climb on and I don't see any risk to it. He will like lots of space. You can cup feed for feeders and wrap with clear shower curtain liner to improve humidity if needed. And it's free!

Yes, he will cup feed. I guess that would be the only way to feed him in this. I do like when he can hunt for his food. I feel like it gives something to do.

That's true. You could use a really big "cup" (like a really big bowl) so he does still have to hunt a little or multiple cups so he has to go to multiple places to get food.

i got a male panther in a 6 foot tall 4 foot deep and 12 feet long and he travels the whole thing daily with 2 feeding dishes i made out of milk jugs and 2 misting spots and he eats at his dishes and when the water comes on he come right to the spot almost every time. imo the bigger the cage the better. that is compared to the size of the cham. but my panthers and mellers all love there huge cages and the new veild is getting used to it himself.

You could cut some window screen and attach it to the outside of the cage so feeders wouldn't escape. Basically you have the whole frame of a cage, just have to add the screen if you choose.

Good points, everyone. What if I put some kind of smooth plastic or acrylic around the inside 12" of it and sealed the edges with an aquarium sealant, would that keep the feeders in? They can't climb up a smooth surface, so it seems like it should. Then the bottom of the cage would be like a giant cup, right?
