I finally got to handle Monty Lee without him hissing or biting!
He did develop stress spots, but he has been tolerating me more lately. If I keep at it, maybe those stress spots won't appear when I hold him.
I'm happy he's finally not scared anymore. He actually climbed right on me.

I thought he would be a grumpy cham forever, but even now he always climbs to the front of the cage and hops on my hand when I am trying to fix him some crickets.

Also, another shed coming up soon. His back spikes have white skin around them, so we're in for another brightening of color. Can't wait for him to grow up (and finally convince my papa that we need a new cage )

Congrats. I'm a newb when it comes to chams. I just wanted to tell you about the mistake I made. I got my Cham in January. He was 11 months. I had him about three days then started taking him out every day, just for a short time, so he would get used to me. he never did come to me, seemed nervous, but was getting a little better each time. Then I got busy and slacked off with the handling. Well today I went to take him out and he freaked more now then when I first got him. Took strikes at me several times. I backed off and let him come out on his own and then I handled him, until he settled. My point, in my little experience, if you want to be able to handle your Cham, do it every day, even if its just for a minute. Mine anyway, took a step back because I slacked off I won't make that mistake again.

Yeah I heard some of them do this. You just gotta work with them consistently.

I will. We are going to build a bigger cage for him soon though so maybe he won't want to come out again, once we finish his new cage. We're gonna spoil him.
