wont stop eating plants

So since we have put our veiled cham in a bigger viv and he now has alotta live plants he is eating them all!! is this ok??? they are all safe plants pothos, palm & croton and im working on a large ficus. but the leaves dont have a chance on the pothos!!! the hanging ones r slowly dissapearing and he just rips them off whole and eats them all up!! is this normal? safe? also does he know the diffrence from the real n fake plants? i have mostly real but till they grow(if they get a chance) i have some fake for more hiding spots for him. i hope this is posted in right spot it is kinda food im asking about, right?? thank u for ur help on this one !!

My veiled does it too! Every new sprout on the pothos she gets a nice few bites out of it. She's been doing it since I've had her and have never seen anything negative.
as for determining between live and fake.. I've never seen her nibble at the fake ones I believe the real plants have some sort of shine when the water is on them hat helps them.know. Idk but she always goes to the.pothos for a munch so I guess they're really smart?

i do believe they are smart!! he knows when to come and get his food if i havent fed him yet he looks for it. i have to try to ignor him sometimes.... he will sit there n just stare at me till i hand him a worm or something, lately i have been handing him small slices of thin shaved apples and OMG he loves it!! i wish i knew what other kinda fruit is safe???? i wonder about bananas, kewi all that good sweet stuff.

I'm still new at this, but my understanding is veileds will eat veggies and fruit, as well as plants It is also considered to be good for them. Just make sure everything is non-toxic. From my perspective, congrats on getting yours to eat anything green. I have a pothos in with mine, and give him a dish of greens each day, but he just looks at me like "what the heck are you putting that in there for? Where's the bugs?"

Hey! Try offering him leafy greens like rocket, kale (occasionally), dandelions, collards, mustard greens etc. my girl used to eat her ficus but stopped when I put a salad bowl in there

he does get a very nice mixed salad every morning after breakfast, along with thin apple slivers he gobbles it all up!! but still eats all his plants..

When I had Veilds They did the same thing!Some do it for water intake some just like to eat plants. Try to offer them some healthy greens every day like kale or red leaf lettice. When I had mine they ate less of the plants on days they were offered greens. You can also put a kale plant in with them .They dont last to long in the cage but it the veilds prefered them over the house plants.

both my chams eat their plants. The hibiscus plant doesn't stand a chance, all flower get eaten instantly. Jade plant has maybe a half of its leaves left, my girl just loves munching on it. Ficus doesn't seem to be very tasty though.
I think if they want to eat their plants - let them do it, why not.

glad to hear it!! i do agree i just wanted to make sure it is ok, i figured if there in there natural surroundings they would eat all the plants life they could so why not! i am trying to get something in there with flowers on it for him but realy dont know what is out there.

That's cool you should just make a salad every once in a while out of different plant lol
