Won't eat out of cricket trap

Hi everyone, my cham wasn't feeling too good for 2.5 weeks and was sick but now he's back to his old self and eating good. Ate 2 silkworms, 5 hornworms (2+ inches), 5 crickets and I think a superworm in the last week.

I made a cricket trap for him because before it was hard to monitor exactly how many of them he was eating and how many were dying or getting out of the cage (made a new cage since to solve that problem).

But he just refuses to eat out of the cricket trap, he will stare at it and move on and look to the top corners of the cage, where the crickets used to try to hide, to try to hunt.

How can I get him to adjust to eating out of the feeder??? when he's used to hunting in his cage for 3+ years. Is it even possible?

So, should I just leave the crickets in there and let him go hungry tell he decides to eat them? Don't want to make him go w/o food since he went for a long period w/o eating.

I'm reordering silkworms and hornworms in the mean time.
