Wisdom teet, how I hate thee.

I was just at the orthodontist today and I got my surgery scheduled for next Friday, they are ripping three of my wisdom teeth out and digging out the other. The following day after that I will be taking my ACT test and then right after my ACT test.. I have to work. Oh how I'm going to be in so much pain. It's worth it right?

Is there any way to re-schedule the ACT? You are going to not be feeling like taking a major test the next day. I had my 4 out at the same time, and I will just say it was quite unpleasant - don't want to stress you out with further details. I'd call out of work too if possible - stock up on applesauce and pudding cups - good luck!

are they impacted? That makes a difference. My daughter had three out that were all impacted. I hate to say but she would not have been up to taking any test the next day. Good luck with your surgery and the test if you end up taking it!

I don't think you can ever tell how someone will react to this surgery. My neighbor had hers pulled and was on painkillers - her face swelled up for days. Mine were all impacted. I had surgery and was back in school tne next day. No swelling or need for any painkillers. But I would certainly reschedule something if you could, just to be on the safe side.

I had mine pulled on a Friday at 3pm , and had to take my SAT's Saturday at 8 am. I still managed to score fairly well while stoned on Vicoden, but I will tell you this, I was miserable, and chicken strips suck when you have no teeth!!!

:p I wish you the best!!

I appreciate teets that are wise...I can see how the young would not. Wise teets have fed the young, wise teets have succumbed to gravity. Wise teets are not perky.

It really does depend on the "impaction" issue. If they aren't impacted, you shouldn't be in a lot of pain the next day. I've had 2 wisdom teeth pulled and in neither case did I even take an Advil (much less the cool prescription painkillers that I stashed for later use).

Hahaha. I appreciate the gravity bit.LOL:D

I had my bottom ones removed and they were both impacted at an angle, so I was miserable fir a couple days. Where as my sister had hers pulled and was out the same night with friends. I would also have your appointment moved if possible because you may not be able to take tests or work.

I went to my dentist once & he just yanked my wisdom tooth out there & then! That's NHS dentistry for you, at least it was cheap! I went straight on to work after & then the anaesetic wore off... I got sent home lol It wasn't too bad the next day

One of mine was just pulled out by my dentist while he was working on something else. He just said "that needs to come out" stuck a probe under the gum, grabbed the tooth with one of those grippy pully things they have and yanked it out. I didn't get any extra pain killers for it, I didn't get any stitches, I didn't get any extra pain meds for the recovery.

And it was fine.

So, the fact is, none of our experiences are going to be yours.

Sadly, I can't reschedule either of them.. The surgeon is from out of town and comes to our ... place every month to do just a small handful of surgeries, I would jump on the chance to put it back, but I will be out of state for family affairs a majority of next month, so this week is the week they have to come out. Three are all the way through and irritating the living daylights out of me.. One is impacted and at an angle. So I'll be giving you a very drowsy update if given the chance. I'm sure there will be a picture somewhere on there, of my swolleness. I think that I'll be able to get through the test fairly easily. I've been studying for ages now. :)

I just realized that I had a typo. Ha ha. I now get this.

I had one that they just pulled out. Didn't require stitches and it wasn't too bad. The second one was impacted and that one hurt like a b****. I drove myself to the pharmacy and I thought I was going to pass out. I was only able drink smoothies and soup for a few days. So glad I only had 2 wisdom teeth. I just hope you're prepared for the ACT

All 4 of mine came out at the same time. 2 were impacted and I got a dry socket that first night. I can take pain pretty well but that just kicked my butt to say the least. Hope everything went well for you and that you rocked that test (if you chose to take it)! :D

I talk like I have my tongue wrapped around my face multiple times... It's really not that painful as of yet, but I am taking everything really easy. I am not allowed to go to school or work until November 1st... My entire tongue is numb, as well as my lower lip and chin.. On the bright side. I am an uncle again. My big brother's child was born yesterday. I attempted to smile. My face drooped instead. The thing you have to wrap around your head.. yeah I'm not a fan of that and I discovered that I can't stand the site of my own blood. Those gause pads are horrendous! I want popcorn really bad right now, something salty at least.. But of course. I can't. I'm confined to ice cream and soup. Did I mention, I'm not a fan of ice cream.

Congratulations on being an uncle. Maybe something like gelato or sherbet would be more to your liking? I have to think that cold would feel good.
