Window Draft and RI

Just curious, why does a window draft cause RI and at what temperature does it become an issue? I have a veiled and have read that in the wild, night temperatures get pretty low....so was just wondering why this happens when there is a cold draft in the room

Its an old wise tail from when we treated them like tropical bird in the 1990's.

In order for a draft to be an issue, it would have to drastically reduce cage temps and cause the cham to not be able to get to 80f+ in its basking spot during the day. And as you already have found out, lower 50's at night is not an issue. Lower 50's and breezy during the day is a problem

If a draft is going to cause a problem, besides what was mentioned above, if it messes with the humidity levels you need to maintain. It needs to be factored in not avoided absolutely. There is a huge difference in a window draft in Florida vs Michigan.

Ok. My Chams cage is near a window so getting ready for cold weather here in NJ. During winter I also set a humidifier near the cage to keep the room humid

Expect to adjust your husbandry a little with each change of season. I thought winter would be the hardest to maintain humidity but my air conditioner in summer steals more humidity than the heater does.
