So as some of you know, I have a gravid Jackson's, that I have been patiently waiting for babies. So, I went into the room where her enclosure is, and she is really fat! I also notcied, that she has been hiding in her plant a lot lately, so I don't know what this means. I am starting to get jealous about all of these baby threads, hopefully I have one of those soon :D.

Enjoy!

a few questions?

how often does she eat and when was the last time? how much time does she spend with her eyes closed? do you know how much she weighed 6 months ago?, do you know how much she weighs now? there is no doubt that your xanth is gravid, however there are a couple of items of concern: the eyes remaining closed even while being handled, as well as the overall dark coloration, is definitely a concern. in this thread from 2-1/2 months ago https://www.chameleonforums.com/expect-babies-soon-36311/index4.html i posted pics of 2 gravid xanths, one with typical gravid coloration, and a gravid xanth with little to no gravid coloration. the one on the left with the typical gravid coloration, even though she does have the dark splotching of typical gravid colors she does not have the overall darkness that yours displays, also you will notice that both are clear eyes, and eyes wide open, despite their gravid state. due to poor conditioning, neither one birthed healthy, i am not trying to rain on the parade, but i am trying to give you a heads up, that there may be additional issues at play. getting them to have the babies is only a small part of the overall equation. jmo

Any idea when she bred? I don't think she can go much longer from the looks of her but my quad looked like a football with feet for over a month.

Xanothoman is the one who can help you with your jackson , so when you answer him I will be waiting to see what he says. Good luck.

Well I am about to do my feedings, so I can answer if she is eating, or if she quit. She normally doesn't have her eyes closed, just happened to start closing them when I took pictures. Also, the she has had more of that darker coloration for the past week maybe, so I think it is just gravid coloration? She is alert, and has her eyes moving around and looking around her cage, as I am typing this.

maybe if you put some fruit flies in the cage she will give birth because she will see a suitable food source for her babies

im not totally sure it will work but its worth a shot

Awww, bless her! She's a gorgeous big girly! I also had no idea that they give birth to so many, but I suppose they would as other species lay a lot of eggs. I bet you can't wait?! You'll be posting baby pics and eating fruit flies before you know it, lol!:D

Well she still hasn't had them. But, is getting bigger. Here are pictures from the other day, she ate 5 crickets then. The second one was funny when I was taking it, because I thought of all the pictures on the forums where we think they are thinking "haha, you can't see me"

Enjoy!
