Will you help me decide?

So I'm in a position to make a choice which I will have to "live with" for years to come. Do I get a female veiled to potentially breed with my male? Or do I get a male panther for approximately the same amount of money, which is something I would love to do? I know all of the care involved with getting a female (laying bins, removing eggs, incubating, and potential loss of the female, etc.). But the babies are so darn cute! And my family would really enjoy seeing them hatch. However, on the other hand, I dream of getting panther chameleons! Their colors are just amazing! And if I stick with just boys, then I don't have to worry about egg laying, loss of eggs, loss of the female, egg impaction. The panther I could potentially get would be either a Nosy Be or a Nosy Faly. I am very fortunate to live near a small locally owned pet store who actually works with reputable breeders and they had a listing of the chameleons they can obtain with the prices. A "blue panther chameleon, male" was listed at only $89! Which I think is quite a steal. So I could potentially be getting an amazing "deal". So now you know why I am asking for help trying to decide on which direction to go. Oh yeah, my hubby agreed to let me get Echo a girlfriend, but when I told him about the panther on the list, he sounded intrigued. BUT, I have to choose. I can't have both.

I think you should get a Luie and Camille great, great grand and experience breeding, hatching and babies.

BUT you really have to do what's right for you.

Breeding sounds fun but you have to find the babies a good home too which can take tims... It's a lot of work and responsibility and you will need the extra enclosure(s) and an incubator.
Also, is the world really in need of another veiled breeder?

Believe it or not I haven't seen as many veiled babies around lately since two of the most responisable breeders quit breeding a few years back. For veileds I never use an incubator, I just put the eggs in the closet. I keep the babies in plastic tubs that cost $4.00 @ at Walmart. I normally don't have a problem finding homes for the Luie and Camille bloodline. I already have a list of people that want the babies that are due to hatch in January. If needed I would always help keepers find good homes for the L&C great, great, great grands.

You say you dream of a panther someday, so I say go with the panther as long as you think it will be a healthy well started animal. I don't trust pet stores myself, but will admit there are some god ones out there. You can always convince your hubby into letting you get a female veiled later on...

So I say vailed if it's one of jannb's... luie is just so darn cute.. but if it's not going to be one of hers I would get a panther lol but thats just my 2¢ and also like remkon said all them bbys are a ton of work but u don't have to hatch anymore than your comfortable taking on.. right?

coming from someone who has a lovely female veiled and a male panther, I love both to death, but I know how much stress/money it can be to upkeep egglaying females. Not to mention you are gonna have a ton of baby chams to care for which are hard to raise healthy unless you are home all the time. Females are great too but just a little more work. you won't be disappointed either way!
