Will these cages work?

Hi,

I just bought a 1 year old blue bar ambiloe panther chameleon.
I want to buy a 24"x24"x48" aluminum screen cage for soon.

I also want to upgrade my chameleon collection, as now I have one, I'm hooked, lol. Anyways, will a 24"x24"x36" cage work for an adult MALE panther chameleon? I know many breeders have had success with cages even smaller, just wondering if these cage are alright for adult male pantehrs, thanks,

-Daniel

.....Also, what kind of screen cages would you recommend?

If you have a 36 x 24 x 24 then it will work fine for now. Personally i like to go as big as possible for adults. But many people have used that size for panthers. I have an LLL cage now but im thinkin about trying a screencages.net cage. I hear good things about DIY cages also. Research what options you think you need. (like solid floor vs screen etc)

24x24xX is kinda the key... adutls need room to spread out. They also need hieght to thermal regulate, but if you keep the temps spot on you shouldn't have TOO much trouble with the shorter cage. Sure you could get away with 24x24x36..... but the cost of a 24x24x48, I think is actually less. So if you were stacking cages, I could see why you'd want the 36" tall cage... but if you only plan to have a couple of male chameleons, the 48" tall cage is prolly more economical.

Yeah, the lll reptile cages were the ones I was planning on getting, but I see fl chams has some nice ones as well.

That cage should be fine...also check out DIY cages, i have several of them and they are perfect for my chams.

Oh just reread on the DIY website says the cage body is 100% aluminum coated with plastic. It just says that the screen is coated with plastic i.e. not aluminum I assume. GRRRR

I mentioned in another thread about cages how zoo med and the DIY cages are made in the same factory in china..... Zoo Med rust.... I assume the DIY will as well.

Thats why im going to try screencages.net . Cages are priced higher but it looks to be better quality product. And offers different sized screen options.

Yah I wouldn't of bought my reptibreeze if it hadn't been on sale for 30 bucks at Petco's going out of buisness sale. I agree Texas if it costs more but is safer and lasts longer that is a better vaule to me than saving a few bucks. Though I am a cheap ass.

the free 'upgrade' to the larger screen is awesome! You will be happy. it is much 'safer' for cham feet. They shouldn't lose toes in that size screen mesh.

Thanks! Actually I was planning on stacking cages, as I want to own 3 pairs of panther chams. 1.1 Nosy Mitsio, 1.1 Nosy Faly, and 0.1 Ambulobe for my male.

It's the Zoo Med cages that are rusting. I am using several of the LLL Reptile cages and they aren't rusting at all.
