Most of the time, Chameleons change their skin color to hide themselves. But will they change their skin color frequently just for fun? For example, if a naughty chameleon looked at a red apple and suddenly he loves the color and then becomes red, but later he saw a yellow banana and he think yellow is beautiful, then change his color into yellow. Is this possible?

It's a long and complicated system but to be short, they change colours in function of the temperature, their moods, to communicate...but in no case they take the color of their environment.
They are internal (subjective) and external (objective) factors, some passive, other active...
