[/BMy four month old male veiled has started to bite at the wood part of the fuscia in his enclose and until i covered it also kept eating the dirt.the fuscia has dropped all its leaves at the moment but he loves to still climb over it so i left it in there. Is it s sign that he is lacking in something? or mischeif or what, as i'm worried in case of impactation.
i am in the process of trying to get a rubber plant, hibiscus or pothos to replace it with but at the moment my local shops have a poor range of plants.
thanks for any advice

I recently encountered the same problem with my 6 month old panther. I was told that is a common thing for them to do and it might mean that he or she is lacking in something but its not known for sure. Mine chews on branches and bits at the rocks covering the soil of my Ficus.

My cham chews on the branches of most of my plants, not very often, but he does do it. He used to do it more when he was younger. If you're worried about him ingesting soil, you could cover it with small stones, just make sure they're not small enough to fit in his mouth (keeping in mind his adult size)...my cham did try to eat the stones...I guess the smaller ones do kind of look like a bug;)

i would go with the hibiscus, sounds like he might eventuly be a heavy plant eater. my male veiled eats alot of plant matter, hibiscus is the safest i think. i put one in and he stopped with the shennanagins. i am going to have to get another though there are barely any leaves left.
