Why do chameleons eyes get sunken in when they're dehydrated?

Howdy Evan,

Starting for the top:
Sunken eyes is a sign that a chameleon is in a highly stressed condition.
That highly stressed condition may be a health related issue.
The health issue may be dehydration.

Think of sunken eyes as the equivalent of human wincing (pain and suffering).

Dehydration may exhibit as sunken eyes but sunken eyes doesn't mean that the health issues can only be dehydration :(.

kinda like the same with people..dont eat well, very low hydraition..(hate to compare but like the victims in the concentraition camps) "dying" dark circles under eyes..basically a sign of mal-nutrition...
