Why are my Hibiscus dying??

i have recently added two hibiscus, and they are looking a little frail. when i got them and for the first few days they were flowering and looking nice, i noticed over the last two days that they are wilting slowly any suggestions??

I've had two Hibiscus, and both time the main issue was about getting natural sunlight. As soon as they don't have access to the sun or a grow light, they slowly die.

Here, my only surviving Hisbiscus is outside, full south and gets the most direct sunlight you can find in my area, and it's doing great now. In the past, i took it inside, behind a glass door, but still full south, and it started dieing within a few days, just like you.


Of course, since they require lot of sun, they need lots of water too!

it could be a few different things. 1) over or under watering 2) not enough light. Hibiscus' require alot of light, do you have a plant light? if not you may want to look into getting a 6500k fluorescent tube.

i would get the 6500 but i have seen somw different opinions on it. does this in any way harm the chams. and what does this usually cost?

Make sure they have good drainage.

Every year when mine come indoors in the fall they look like they are going to die for a few weeks- leaves turn brown and drop and then new leaves grow in to replace the outdoor leaves.

oh ok cool, i just brought them in from outdoors. there have good drainage and are watered regularly( not too much ). so you think i should wait a week or so to see what happens before i go and buy equipment for them?? thanks i am glad to hear this though

I use the 65K bulbs for my plants but they don't really work on hibiscus. They need a huge amount of sunlight to stay alive. The only suggestion i have is buy two hibiscus for each cham. So while one plant is in the cage the other is being nursed back outside. Then just swap ever other week or so.

Hibiscus are also notorious for pests such as mites and also need more water than most house plants. Thus, make sure you're watering enough and take the plants outside every week to spray them down. Also as already indicated Hibiscus need good light, but can acclimate to the indoors.
