Chameleon Info:
  • Your Chameleon - Triocereos Hoehnelii, male, 5 months
  • Handling - Once a week, if at all
  • Feeding - Crickets, dubia, (freshly moulted only) mealworms, locust (rarely when accepted) all gutloaded on carrot, bee pollen, spring greens
  • Supplements - Minerall, Reptivive, Arcadia Calciumpro. I followed the Chameleons UK calendar though I've been advised to switch this.
  • Watering - Misting twice a day, it often rains at night so he does not get an outdoor mist unless it's a particularly dry night.
  • Fecal Description - Was tested for parasites before purchase. Pretty average with white-faintly yellowed urates and small poops.
  • History - Got him 3rd March.

Cage Info:
  • Cage Type - Medium Reptibreeze 16″ x 16″ x 30″
  • Lighting - Arcadia T5 linear uvb
  • Temperature - Cage ambient is 20c, sometimes topping midday at 22-23c but not for long. Nighttime it's generally whatever we have outside in the UK, from 8c-13c most nights that I've gone out and checked.
  • Humidity - Humidity daytime ambient is 40%, 90-100% outdoors at night
  • Plants - Two schleffera. Lilac branches.
  • Placement - Above my ball python in my bedroom (reptile room). I don't spend much time in there so he is often left undisturbed.
  • Location - Lincolnshire, UK

Current Problem - Lethargic, not wanting to move around even when softly prodded, going pale. Doesn't go pale outdoors, but it's too cold in the daytime for him to be out there. Pictures below.

I love this hoehnelii, but so far he has given me nothing but trouble care wise, even when I'm finicky trying to perfect it. I have another hoehnelii on the way and I would like to nip Oliver's issues in the bud immediately since they have sprouted up so suddenly.

EDIT: He will eat, but only when he's outdoors.

Your temps there are good to leave him outdoors 24/7 this time of year. T. hoehnelii bask a lot. Natural sun is best if temperatures are good. Yours are, even if cloudy. Mealworms should be a treat not a staple. Is it possible he's going into a shed causing him to be pale and changing his normal feeding habits? Generally hoehnelii are heavy feeders, even when shedding. You only have a uv bulb? He needs a basking light too. Start with a lower wattage, maybe 40W, if you can't keep him out doors during the day.

Thank you. I was only concerned about the cold because it’s been 16-18c out tops this past week.
I was told to avoid a basking bulb due to dehydration, but I’ll get that on him right away. Regarding the mealworms they are sort of a treat, since I only ever use them when I see one small enough for him that has moulted recently.
