I would try to section off the bottom with something so the cage is smaller. You might be able to, but you might not. It just depends on the chameleon. My friend was able to house a 3 month old panther in a 24x24x48 but needed to have at least 5 feeding cups with a few bugs each to make sure the baby could find food. After a month he started to remove them and it learned to feed from just one.
