Where do you buy your Feeders from?

I get my feeders locally from House of Scales. I have a problem with making say, a 20 dollar purchase, and then the shipping costs an additional 30. But I'm cheap, so.

Thats exactly what I just said! LOL! My order was $25 and they wanted 27 to ship overnight!

I know. I tried to buy ONE CUP of superworms from mulberryfarms. It would weigh like NOTHING. It was 7.99 and they wanted to charge 23 bucks for overnight shipping. Im like f that you damn crooks.

I can't speak for USPS and FED EX, but I do my shipping through UPS. Their rates are based upon dimensional weight. Here is an example. If I ship a cham in a standard 12x9x6 shipping box. The cham is well under a pound, but UPS thinks a box that size should weigh 4 pounds(that's dimensional weight). So you are charged for a box weighing 4 pounds.
I have also shipped an empty shipping box(via ground, 3 to 4 day delivery) and it still cost me $10.00 to ship. So I would venture to guess, other shipping companies charge according to weight and size like UPS does.

Lancecham,

Yeah. The price of shipping sucks. Let me restate that I wasn't referring to mulberry farms as the crooks but the shipping company that added the 23 dollars on top of my 7.99 purchase, since I apparently have to.

This is the reason I do not ship any feeders. Thank god theres a place twenty minutes from me.

I just ordered from them for the first time this morning.. I was looking for a place that had horns and FF's.. Do you know when they will be getting them!?

and q on shipping.. I was looking at the different options.. fed ex 2 day, usps 2-3 day.. anyone use either one? any issues? Sorry, I cant use overnight..It cost more to ship them than my actual order!

Call them up.... Say Hi for me :D Say your from the forum. He (the owner) is aware of us, I hope we get Mulberry as a sponsor soon

BTW, anyone calling in order. If you call during a shipping day (Mon-Wed), expect to not get an answer. Leave your order on the VM or leave your name and number. They will call back. They are busy on shipping days making sure orders are right and packed right.

They didnt give me the option of UPS..well they did but it said they cant do it for my location...

My order should be here tomorrow.. We shall see. Its the first time Ive used them.

I use Mulberry Farms as well. They have great customer service.
The shipping costs suck. But they are what they are. And it is part of doing business.
Where I live there is no place available for a variety of "decent" feeders (at least none I am aware of). I simply try and make the order worth the shipping or grin and bear the price.
I figure my pets are worth the few $$$ extra now and again. :)

I shippe dout a box of 8 2 month old veileds to Virginia - the next state up. UPS changed things. It used ot be next day air, wiht an early and late option. now, you have early AM or by the end of the day. So, we have to use the early option. For the smallest box I could fit 8 chameleons in, it was $107.00. It oculd have been filled with gold bars, and it would probably have cost the same - dimentions, not weight.

That said, I was told FedEx was cheaper...

I use Ghann's. They've got a breeder discount - and will go even lower if you order two thousand or more a week. The best thing is I get free ground shipping, since I'm close enough (NC). It's next day arrival for nothing. I order early in the morning, and the crickets are there in about 24 hours - free shipping. Cannot beat that.

I had to order 1/8" and 1/4" for my babies, but the temps were in the teens and 20's. I had to tell them to ship, with no gaurantee. No problem - one day shipping in sub freezing matters not - the heat packs are still hot and everything was alive.

Mulberry farms rocks..
Although I am retarded.. I never saw a cricket box like what they have. Im used to daves deli cups..so stupid me opened the top and 1/8 inch crickets went EVERYWHERE!! LOL.. Once I figured it out, its awesome that there is a hole and you just shake em out!! Love it!!!

Their horns are great. I specified small and I got pretty much that minus one Giganto.
I ordered 500+ mini mealworms too.. Im wondering if there is an easier way to separate these from the bran? Everytime I grab one, I get more bedding than worm.
And the butters are cool. Im assuming they must be in the silkworm family? Jacksons love them. Im thrilled.
Stupid Fedex guy though.. Says right on the box, Live silkworms, fragile, this side up so he puts then leaned against my house upside down..

They were packed awesomely though.>Def. using them from now on. Ordered Monday, shipped tuesday, arrived thursday before noon.

Eric: Whats a breeders discount and how do they know? Is it based on amount? Is it a special request? I see this all the time, breeder/group but never sure.

I checked out Ghanns but they didnt have as large of a variety as I need.. and while they offer next day, its not free..

I put in another order with Mulberry Farms. My last order didnt last as long as I hoped so I upped it alittle this time on quantities. $10 2 day shipping, not bad, but i like their variety although they are sold out of a lot right now..

Blackbetty,

If you are just needing crickets try www.cricketsonline.com. they are in Southwest michigan and offer free shipping to TN. they may charge a little more for them items than others, but I find I can get 1000 crickets from them cheaper than any of the other online places, and they are here in 1 day.

They also have a variety of other things, but I buy my worms at a monthly show.

i love mulberries reputation, prices, quality, and shipping, its just that they have been out of any silk order over 250 in the medium and large catagory for like 6 months now....whats up with that...also i ordered mediums last month and they were like half and inch...i ordered 200.....but the variety is awsome....i would lovr to work there as a summer job....but its like an 8 day drve away lol.

Got another order from them!!! (Mulberry) Used plain ol USPS and they were here in 2 days. Great as always.. Well, so far I mean. Only my second order.:) I
The only question I have and this is in general, not just about MF, I bought Mini Meal worms and i cant find a way to separate them from the bran stuff as they are so small.. Anyone got any idea?..

Same with the Phoenix worms..theirs is moist so it sticks to them...

I roll the phoenix worms between my fingers and on my hand to get the crud off. a speck left shouldnt hurt chams much.

might be able to do that with meal worms too

buy a dollor store siffter

These are mini.. I think they would go through probably easier than the bran but Id most likely end up with the same concept of bran and mealworms.. they are like pencil lead..
