Hi! I have never owned a chameleon before, but I here Senegal Chameleons are good starter chams and l would like to know the best place to get one, I live in Minnesota and I looked to find a reptile store that have these chameleons and I have not found any. Is ordering and getting chameleons shipped a good idea? please help, thank you. -ChameleonLove

Oh, and is reptilecity.com a reliable website to order from?

OR, would a pygmy chameleon be a good starter?

A Senegal won't be the best starter cham primarily because they are almost all wildcaught, imported, stressed, dehydrated, and probably full of parasites (that tend to bloom because of stress). Don't know of anyone breeding them successfully either. Go for a juvenile (at least 4 months old) veiled or panther cham instead.

I dont think so. they are harder to care for from what i hear. i just got my first cham! it a girl but if you dont want to deal with egg laying or dont know how get a boy. id go with a veiled. just orderd a 65 gallon(all screen sidedcage) for my new baby. she stays in her little cage for now untill shes a bit bigger. heres a link to look at--http://lllreptile.com/store/catalog/animals/chameleons/

if you buy the set you still need to buy the cham a bigger cage later. theres an adult set aswell that doesnt come with as cham. goodluck :) read up on everything!
